Biden needs to tie any spending cuts to increased taxes on the wealthy and closing loopholes. Tell the American people that the GOP are putting the interests of the wealthy establishment over the American people.

If the GOP denies the request are you willing to put the world's economy in the hands of Brett Kavanagh? Man the 2016 election was so important. The Supreme Court is so corrupt its scary

First Biden needs to get more public support behind him by making this about the GOP protecting the wealthy.

I truly do not know what the end game should be.

???? How does he magically get the public behind him lolol you think people care? His social media has been attacking Republicans every day yet the media doesn't report the facts. The main stream media treats this as a rational discussion instead of hostage taking.

Unfortunately one of biggest bidens biggest selling points is that he's boring and you don't need to follow politics while he's POTUS. Public doesn't care at all

LOL. Why are you commenting at me like I need to come up with a solution?

Has Biden explicitly tied spending cuts to tax hikes on the wealthy? I don't know what to tell you, but Biden needs to do more to gain his own leverage.

Biden is boring because he's not a great communicator. I don't really agree your broad statements here as it's still about two weeks away. As AOC's tweet above indicates, they only need a handful of the GOP to not follow along.

    1. Yes he has

I think you over estimate the American public. Their dumb as hell. 55% of the population according to latest yougov poll thinks we've lost jobs since 2021 when we have the lowest unemployment rate in history. The public is just dumb nd doesn't care.

Aoc is useless. She's done nothing to help. She could talk to vulnerable Republicans to help them get on board for a clean title yet she hasn't done anything.

People overrate AOC and the media in general. AOC is useless. She hasn't consigned a single piece of legislation that's passed since 2018. She's just a loudmouth troll.

Sadly there's no solutions cuz our media has failed

"Just need to pick 5" and how many has she convinced or spoken too? The answer will be ZERO but she'll gaslight her supporters by low iq content. None of those 5 Republicans are budging one bit which is the issue. They have main stream media behind them

The far left and MAGA are both insane

McCarthy already passed a debt ceiling bill. What is she talking about?

The one that Republican house members say won't pass and will not support again? Give it a rest you're not in court tonight. Go have a drink, watch the games, get some p***y and you'll feel like a new man tomorrow.

Great now put the Trump tax cut for wealthy on the table to put more heat on McCarthy.

Or maybe doing the opposite is best and let McCarthy have an offramp because he will blink first and accept something insignificant just to claim a win.

Oh I think they are dumb, but I also think you are getting worked up before the last quarter of the game here.

Just give the GOP a choice - pass a clean bill or Biden invokes the 14th Amendment so we never have to go through this silliness ever again.

And what happens if the Supreme Court or Brett Kavanagh rules in favor of gop? Then what's the plan honestly?

Brett ruled to ban abortion. He's not a moderate

You really think the Supreme Court would vote to put the US into default and create economic chaos? They would then be blamed for it by the American people - "Supreme Court defaults US economy"

No, the Court doesn't want to own that ****. It will pass it back to the President and Congress to sort out without making a decision.

If I were president, I'd say, no, we aren't going to do this again. if Congress can't honor the 14th Amendment and pay our debts, then I will use my authority as President to enforce the constitution - that's my job. If they want to go to the courts to contest the constitution, that's fine, they can waste taxpayers money. But they should instead do their job and raise the debt limit or get rid of the debt limit because America's debt can not be questioned.

That's it. No negotiation. No further conversation. You think Biden would have learned something from Tump.

Kavanaugh isn’t a moderate on social issues but we’ve seen him rule contrary to more conservative voices in regard to things like the election. Given that there is a Constitutional argument for doing away with the debt ceiling I think he might decide to support that.

Still I would hope we don’t get to the point of having the USSC decide this.

Absolutely SCOTUS would be willing to throw us into default. They feel their impunity. They didn't worry about what people would say when they flooded our elections with dark money, when they ended election oversights, or when they overturned a 50-year old right to abortion. Even the earlier liberal court didn't care about the howls when they created that right to abortion or forced desegregation. They make huge history-changing decisions while acting like the will of the people is beneath their contempt. I don't see them blinking at it.

But, I was thinking a bit about how this would go. I said earlier Biden would have started already if he'd pursue the 14th amendment, and maybe that's not right. Maybe how it would go is at midnight on May 31, he'd walk away from the negotiating table and tell Treasury to just keep paying bills. McCarthy would cry foul and demand emergency intervention from the SCOTUS. The Admin would invoke the 14th amendment to say they had to keep paying the country's obligations. Maybe the court finds for the Admin, the debt ceiling is dead forever. Or maybe the court finds against them and orders them to cease and desist with a short but future-dated deadline. Biden returns to the negotiating table but now his hand is much weaker. Now he'll get the political blame for a default because he played hardball and lost. So he has to concede to a deal worse than the one he walked away from. Thinking about it that way, I feel more certain Biden won't actually be employing the 14th amendment unless McCarthy holds a very hard line. Its just a tool to gain leverage at the bargaining table.

Haha, I would absolutely love to see them try. Like are they going to have Janet Yellen arrested?

If Biden mints the coin or uses 14th amendment - there is literally nothing they can do to force a default. They actually know that i think, or at least 5 of them do.
