NBA University saying his shooting will be disgusting in that tweet as if that’s not a huge deal…like we’re discussing being a little turnover prone or something light like that How are u a lead guard and your jumper is described as “disgusting?” This is what I can’t stand about a lot of these young players entering the draft these days. Why are u coming into the league with such a busted jump shot? It doesn’t occur to u that with so much athleticism, if your jumper was on point, you’d have it made in the NBA? Nah, they’d rather just coast on athleticism. They’d rather spend all their time working on what they’re already good at, weaknesses be damned.
I had heard the Spurs were one of the teams that were considering taking Amen if they landed second. (From an "insider" on their forum.) Not surprised if there are other front offices who are thinking similarly. But yeah he's a total scrub, those professional scouts and draft analysts who do this for a living have no idea what they're talking about.
I'm not believing anything I read or hear. "Jabari Smith will be the #1 pick" "Rockets will be 'left' with Paolo Banchero, which isn't bad!"
Y'all clutching to highlights against inferior competition thinking it's guaranteed to translate. We LITERALLY JUST DRAFTED an elite college shooter who shot 30% from 3. Now y'all want someone who can't even bully scrubs in some bush league.
Logically I'm worried about Amen's mechanics and shot percentage, but a 6'7'' PG who can pass and defend? It's not the end of the world. If this guy had a reliable shot, we'd be talking about a generational talent like Wemby. Wemby is the best player in this draft? Yes of course. But his body causes me certain concerns (just like Cheet did).
Thanks for this. I've only been able to find older clips unless you want to go skim through full games (which I have done a bit) or try to figure out when different parts of scouting reels were taken. Comparing it to some shooting drills from almost a year ago, his mechanics look way different now, and to me, much cleaner. I'm seeing less drift from side to side, and a cleaner, more vertical shooting motion. It's just practice so you can't read too much into it, but fixing mechanics in practice is obviously the first step.
