Except the FBI in 2016 was openly conducted an investigation of Hillary Clinton too including revealing information about it days before the election. It’s a pretty odd view of claiming partisanship when both major candidates were being investigated, one was kept secret to not appear to be tipping the scales while the other was done publicly which very well Might’ve tipped the scales.
you obviously have not read the report. compare the treatment of Hillary with that of Trump. Moreover, the latter's investigation was largely instigated by the machinations of the former.
Especially when in 2016 they were all in support of the FBI investigating Hillary Clinton once it’s revealed that the FBI was also invetigsting Trump suddenly it’s all about how corrupt the FBI is and how that investigation conducted privately was interfering in the election.
Actually agree with this. I don't think it's fair to judge the Durham Report by the number of convictions he secured. His finding seems to me a bit insignificant and perhaps biased, but it isn't inconsistent with securing no convictions. I would want to read the Report (which I haven't done) before I have an opinion on it's merit. But everyone will have forgotten about it in a week, so I'm not sure it's worth the trouble.
Yes the treatment of Hillary Clinton was much worse because it was done in public. We didn’t even know the FBI was investigating Trump until after the election. Yet y’all are claiming it was election interference when Obama, Holder and Comey said they didn’t want it known during the election they were investigating Trump to not appear to be tipping the scales. From what I recall you were all for the FBI in the Fall of 2016. But now have changed your tune since you found out Trump was also being investigated.
Durham is a prosecutor and for those claiming partisanship under our system a trial by a jury of peers is the ultimate proof of wrong doing. Mueller’s investigation did produce many convictions but the biggest weakness of it was that it deliberately didn’t recommend a prosecution of Trump. Mueller himself acknowledged that he couldn’t becaue of DOJ policy.
it's worth the trouble if you care about corruption in the justice department and the integrity of our elections in the future.
Lol. I said all along we need to correct the problems with the FBI. The FBI was not found to have interfered in the election. That would be a crime. Nobody was found guilty of that.
Someone here keeps on saying there won't be a report, just indictments or not. The reason that person (basso) said that is because Barr was concerned there was spying on the Trump campaign and assigned Durham to investigate. Before leaving office, he elevated Durham to special counsel because, and I quote, "Mr. Durham's review subsequently developed into a criminal investigation, which remains ongoing," enabling the special counsel to investigate any official for criminal acts. It was an investigation for criminal activities, which, as we have now seen, yielded very little. The conduct of the FBI was already investigated by the DoJ IG in 2019, and they already produced a report. Since Durham failed to find much evidence of any criminal activities, he has basically changed his scope from primarily a criminal investigation to producing a report about the FBI, something that was already done in 2019. And Basso has changed his tune as well. PS: It is also important to note that after the IG report in 2019, the DOJ has already acknowledged the problem and stated that they have addressed it. The value of Durham's report and his single recommendation (which was already in place) is thus pretty much nil.
Nah, he was asked to look into the origins of the Russia investigation to make sure the department functions properly. Not all improper endeavors are criminal. I judge that I am pretty unlikely to find big revelations of corruption. But I might on a slow day at the office. It's a good point but again the value of the report isn't measured by convictions. It can be lame all on its own.
If a special prosecutor is appointed to uncover corruption, they are expected to prosecute it. Failure to win a single court case is certainly a valid measure of judgment. Certainly that can be a valid area to make a judgment. Mueller, by the way, was 100% convictions on his trials.
That IS fascist. In normal times, he would be gone from Congress. But in today time, he would be celebrated by MAGA, and the regular, not yet crazy MAGA wing of the republicans party will just turns a blind eye to it. It's not so different from when Trump used the Big Lie to say it "allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution".
Well this dick whipping contest proved to be a tremendous waste of time. There was no Presidential meddling in the investigation… no editing of the Report… no self serving statement released at the same time. This investigation is over at least, but what a waste of time and money.
