    95 dream was also surrounded by better offensive weapons that spaced the floor. Starting Elie in the WCF/finals was a big-time adjustment. Horry finding his 3-point shot in the playoffs was a huge bonus. And Clyde being able to run the offense via post/PNR (along with Cassell at times) allowed Hakeem to get some much needed rest on possessions or crash the boards.

    The 94 team was a little more one dimensional. Better overall defensively but not as versatile on the offensive end. Had to pick up Charles Jones and Earl Cureton from the retirement home for the stretch-run/playoffs….

    Karl badly over-estimated Barkley in 96… especially in the playoffs where he was still bothered by the hip injury or whatever he had.

    Barkley was able to space the floor well but was also shooting way too many 3’s (and making just enough to keep shooting him). But they continued to double team him regardless of whether or not he was actually able to score one-on-one and that freed up his passing ability for Maloney/etc.

    Sam Mack and even Recasner were solid off the bench. Mack was a hell of a floor spacer.

    Both undrafted free agents picked up off the streets… that 96 team was pretty bad but got by a dumb Lakers team featuring 38 year old Magic as their PG/C/PF.

    Actually that Lakers performance probably convinced West to go all in for Shaq/Kobe and it worked out pretty well for them…

    @Clutch @J.R.

    we all know the real reason the rockets never won 4 in a row

    Les changed the logo and uniforms into a clown suit after the second title cause he’s a New Yorker / Floridian who hates our colors of red and mustard

    Dream was so dominant then, and so crucial offensively especially that first championship. I often thought to myself the best defensive strategy against us would be to play him one on one, let him go off for 50, and clamp down on everyone else and hope his 50 is not enough. He was a Batman with no Robin that first championship.

    Batman did not need any Robin to take Gotham that year.

    thank you John Starks you my man baby!

    Eddiie Jones was also on that team and very good. While Magic helped infuse some excitement on that otherwise mediocre team, he ended up being a net negative by the end of the season, and was a flat-out liability in the playoffs.

    Why haven’t they changed it back since? Tillman merely needs to emulate what the Astros did. What is taking so long?

    Why Jerry West wanted Kobe so much.the most hyped I ever was in 1998/1999 season when we got Pippenand added big dwag Antoine Carr from the Jazz.Granted Olajuwon and Barkley were well past their best years but it still had the nucleus of a very good team.

    Unfortunately even Scottie was dealing with the effects of the offseason back injury and was never the same. Nonetheless I feel Rudy was too stubborn with the post up game and refused to diversify the offense to get the ball to Scottie .

    The only time Scottie was really used was the game three of the lakers series loss when he was posting up a young Kobe. That was the only win of the series . We had them in game 1 at the forum but a fumble at the end by Scottie gave them the game and 2 was never close.

    Game three Scottie went for 37 from memory and game 4 they closed it out and advanced hence the end of the Pippen experiment

    Lol like I said directly out of retirement Jordan played 17 games in the regular season that season he was not fit enough for the NBA and the postseason that doesn't even count.
