Framber didn't have it and our 2 best relief arms needed the day off. Absolutely sensational work from the pen.
love seeing Maton put it together, he showed flashes of dominance in the 2021 playoffs. Seems like a humble cool dude, a little crazy too.
Any credit for Dusty? As much flack as everybody here gives him… he’s gotten everybody on this pen involved in tight games, and he’s been able to have multiple people act as fill-in closers without the mental hurdle. And they’re not over-taxed (yet) despite what already feels like more bad starts this year than all of last year.
That made him more likable to me considering we probably weren’t using him in the playoffs anyways. It’s pretty relatable
I mean, he hasn't done anything particularly complex. Use his best relievers in close games when available and give guys days off when they've pitched frequently. For the most part, his management of the pitching staff has been great since he got here, so he is perfectly capable of logical management of players. Plenty of baseball players, or even fans, could manage a team in terms of in game choices, it isn't hard. Dusty has the gift you can't teach, the ability to relate, bond, communicate and set a good tone in a clubhouse. It's what pisses me off about Dusty. He has the personality gift you can't teach and his management of the pitching staff shows he can manage player usage well. But he does so many inexplicable things with his usage and lineup construction on the hitting side (until October, when he shows that he can manage that as well). He only falls short of being a perfect manager because he chooses to not do basic s**t.
