Hadn’t seen a thread about this but the Turkish elections could have a large affect on the rest of the World affecting the future of NATO, what happens in Ukraine and the Middle East. I suspect Erdogan will pull it out at the last minute by a narrow margin (but not too narrow!) and everybody will be totally surprised.
I was listening to DW and they were saying that most Turkish citizens outside of Turkey lean heavily for Erdogan. I’m curious why? In the US elections it seems like in 2020 while a lot of military votes leaned for Trump most expat Americans didn’t.
Because most of those who emigrated were uneducated manual laborers from the countryside who are stuck in the past, often very "conservative" religiously, and easily manipulated. Basically hillbillies. When I speak to Turkish people, they laugh when they talk about the Turkish people in Germany: "we sent you our worst"
