Glenn Rivers: Started in the 2nd Q. We were playing so well, trusted, ball was moving, then 3-4 turnovers in a row, including flagrant foul. We go up 10 on that. After that, we never played right again. We didn’t play well. Anything with Harden/Joel that made them struggle? Give Boston credit. Played hard, played great defense overall. We had opportunities. Ball in the right places. Even when we swung it, we had great shots. James didn’t seem to play as aggressively the last 2 games. I thought James came to play. I really did. He was trying to see the game. Thought he played downhill. When he passed, he made the right decisions. We didn’t get anything out of it. I thought James was trying to do the right thing tonight. This team is headed right. We made another mental step this season. Tonight, that was a step backwards but that’s OK. Every year, one team wins. It won’t be us. That was our goal. How do you handle the aftermath? You don’t. Nothing you can do about it. After a game like this, my job is make sure every player is in the right place. Planning to be the coach next year? Yeah, think I got 2 years left. Still feel that way with what has transpired the last week? (Bud/Monty) No one is safe in our business. I get that. What did you see from Embiid the last 6 games of the season? That fall, where he stepped on Smart, I know something happened there. The kid deserves a break. He deserves one shot to be 100% throughout. I would love to have him one time where we don’t have issues. I haven’t had that opportunity and neither has Joel. That sucks for everybody. … Emotions? I’m disappointed. I thought we had the right group. Talk about keeping receipts, I don’t think a person in this room picked the Sixers but we did and we chose to believe we could win. We almost pulled it off. Game 6 is something we’ll think about. Game 7 is something we’ll think about. Our guys thought they could win this series. What does this group need to take the next step? Too early. I had plans on Miami, not thinking about our future. Harden/Embiid pairing still room to grow? Yeah. James has a decision to make and he’ll make it. I think he enjoyed being here. We asked him to play different. It made us a better team. For James at times, it wasn’t best for him but he still did it and you appreciate that as a coach. Team not hit it’s ceiling yet? Yeah, I believe that but it’s not up to me. That’s up to our owners and Daryl.
I understand lol. I'm a Harden fan but always been real about the issues and baggage. Despite this, I still want him back on this team. Regular season Harden is all these kids need to at least learn how to win to get to the playoffs. We will worry about playoffs later when we actually get there.
Yeah but then we are gonna go back to being clowned, It looks like you might just get your wish thou...
if Morey pats me on the back like this we gonna have to fight! i dont think Morey fires Doc; he is a machoistic. Morey will ride with Doc and harden until he's GMing in Australia.
Even though Yao and TMC era might have been less talented. I don't recall them quitting like this ever. Harden was quitting in Houston big moments....And
Embid was just as bad and there is no excuse for his lack of rebounds big as his ass is he should get 10 rebounds on accident.
Tmac wouldn't get past the 1st round ever, so we just never knew. I guess stats were decent in elimination games but yeah, he just never got past the 1st round. He did quit on us in the regular season.
"greatest scorer of all times" fanbois pull out cherry picked and selective stats for "most points in a 7 minute mark in the 2nd quarter while doing 2 reboudns 3 assists...of ALL TIME" Its done. It was done when he foiled vs the warriors 5 years ago, this is just the 10th layer of cement.
Th This guy can sit here with a straight face the Sixers are headed in the right direction? If getting run over by a locomotive is the right direction so be it then then yeah
