Its certainly not top 5 NBA player either. I say that statline is pedestrian in just the same way that KPJs 19/5/5 has been reduced to being a chucker on a bad team.
I can respect that u at least put this much thought in hardens return and understand your wary in his return. It's a lot better than those who are acting like jilted ex lovers. Everyone has their own opinion and in the end only tilman's matter. I really see tilman jumping at the chance to have a reunion with one of the greatest rockets and forcing ime to work with it. No coach in their sane mind would reject having a hof pg in harden, that's just me. If he's back I welcome it, if he's not I pray we get an actual pg or ime is a miracle worker cause kpj blows at pg.
Would be kind of hilarious to trade KPJ/Tate for Chris Paul and sign Harden back outright on a discounted deal. And draft Wemby. Paul/Harden/TyTy Green/Harden/Christopher Wemby/Tari/KMJ Bari/Tari/KMJ Sengun/Wemby/Garuba
Well, no, but I assume ATW thinks he's going to keep getting better as he gets older. Which... maybe? I think 19/10/6 is definitely within the realm of possibility for Sengun next season, but I do have questions about how much more there will be to unlock after that. We'll see!
There is a lot he can unlock: Develop a consistent jumper Gain better defensive positioning through experience Gain better upper body strength to power through post defense contact Direct offensive plays rather than passing when they develop
I agree, I'm just not sure whether we can expect him to get a little better or a lot better in those areas. If he gets a lot better, we're talking superstar like ATW thinks, if it's only a little bit better, we're more in that Sabonis range. Remains to be seen how far Alpi can go, but I'm with y'all, I'm there for the ride.
Also, I think he can still slightly improve his lift/jumping ability. If you look at how heavy he was when he was 16, in the last 3 years or so, he has already gotten more athletic, and he is definitely quite flexible, like a gymnast, but I think there is still room to grow into being more athletic. It would be unusual for a big man - or any NBA player - to peak at age 20/21.
If that is the case what is stopping any other player on the team from increasing output next season? Its a given Alpie will, but nobody else could come in and wow? Yup - if Sengun can extend his game outside of the restricted area it will not only help his individual glory, but would propel this team into being contenders. Its not a mutually exclusive arrangement for fans of the team as a whole.
I'm with you 100% on KPJ. I'm a fan of KPJ the player, just not a fan of KPJ the PG. We need to get a better option at that spot moving forward. It makes sense why people would want James Harden back. I'd be ok with James coming back at 3 years 90 million if he fully understands that this is no longer his team. That moniker belongs to either Jalen, Sengun, Wemby (if we draft him), or whoever else fits the bill. But the main person that is under the microscope for me this off-season is not Harden. It's Stone, Stone is officially on the clock. Your job as the GM is to make this team better. We have so many holes that need to be filled. We need a starting caliber PG, SF, another option at Center that plays differently from Sengun, and we need to find some shooters. Stone saying "well Harden wants to come back, we can sign him" is lazy GMing to me. No, do your job Stone and investigate. You literally need to be calling all 29 NBA franchises out there to see who we can poach from other teams. Once all those options are exhausted and Harden is the best option for us this off-season with our cap space situation then you sign him. But if I see a woj bomb this summer from any team in the NBA that traded a fringe all-star player to another team I'm going to question Stone greatly.
Ultimately, that's going to be up to Sengun. He is certainly smart enough and talented enough to improve and thankfully, shooting is one of the easiest skills to improve upon and also the area where improvements will benefit him the most. Defense however, that might prove to be harder as every player is limited to some extent regarding the physical attributes they are born with and how much they can be improved.
This. People say we need a PG so bad but Harden is a certain type of PG…. a slow paced, ball dominant one that doesn’t do anything when he doesn’t have the ball.
QUOTE="Sengoat28, post: 14631417, member: 65899"]There are only 5 player right now better then Sengun in this league and Harden is not obe if them. Harden is maybe on top player list on rank 40. I like Sengun as player i dont care if harden comes back or not. Its funny people here or twitter always hype after one good game of harden and they act like he is prime mj and if harden plays bad what is 80% of the time they silent and dont post his nummers and so on just funny[/QUOTE] I'll play along Name the 5 better players
Bingo When Harden is on the floor there are two plays being run: iso or pick and roll with everyone else standing there with very little side to side ball movement. On occasion he'll push it up court... Just not a winning brand of basketball and having everyone rely on an aging basketball isnt going to help their development that much. Ime is a HUGE believe in making the pass that leads to the pass. If he could change that behavior from Harden (I doubt it) then that changes EVERYTHING for me.
What's left to unlock will be dictated by improved efficiency and usage - without one, the other doesn't increase. Reducing the turnovers might be more important to his overall efficiency than stretching out his shot.
That’s a good point, he goes for the spectacular pass a little too often, which leads to turnovers. As he matures, he will both develop his outside shot and be more selective dishing out the sauce. Usually the simple pass will get the assist.
What a load of nonsense. With Harden manning the offense the sixers are in the playoffs. That's the goal. U really bringing that winning stance where we had dumba$$es preferred losing team ball over harden offense. Ime was on the Nets team when harden was there. Folks who hate harden so much spinning wack a$$ narratives. Winning basketball pfffffft u mean a ring?
NY post Zach Braziller : If Harden leaves Embiid might want out to. Embiid giving Harden some serious leverage
