Right. Even if you don't want to be there, you sign the contract, then request a trade later. Celtics have to offer it, and he has to accept it. End of story.

I ain't looking for someone whose body can only hold up for the playoffs and pay them the max.

I prefer the player that is starting to consistently win All NBAs instead of the player not winning them at all anymore.

Harden will probably go farther then the said player who’s body is more reliable in the playoffs.

Resigning Harden is the Top Priority for the 76ers

Jaylen Brown going to a Contender is Perfect for him. Bucks, Mavericks

Maybe James Harden goes to the LA Clippers and Jaylen Brown goes to the 76ers

The 76ers are so over the cap even if Harden walks they can’t afford to get another max player. The only way they get brown is through sign and trade.

Brown is now eligible for a super max extension that would start in 24-25 season. 290 million over 5 years. Tatum is also eligible. Boston will tie up 120 million in two players.

I wonder if, from a team building perspective under the new CBA, that the penalites of having two full max players might too prohibative? It is interesting to ponder.

Two max players is fine as long as you don't have bad/dead contracts on the roster. Everyone just has to start building rosters like Morey, very top heavy and more minimum contracts at the end of the rotation.

Three max players is not sustainable unless you get the extra overall revenue/exposure from winning a title.

The way the CBA works is it punishes you once you hit a certain cap number by not allowing you to do anything but lateral or salary dumping moves. If you're content at that point that you can keep contending for the title with incoming draft picks and minimum/room exceptions, then that's when you consciously decide to hit the second apron.

What would be the penalties in the new CBA? Under the current CBA the only restriction besides luxury tax that I know if is a hard cap if you acquire a player via sign and trade. Next season GS will have $215M in payroll if Draymond opts in. They don't seem to be sweating the luxury tax bill.

I mean players have the freedom to get their money and then request/force a trade in today's league, it happens every season. Jaylen's going to accept that offer, but that doesn't mean he wants to be in Boston, which still has the same (reported) red flags for him as before -- being Tatum's #2, racist fans, Mazzulla not being up to par etc.

And he's the VP of the NBAPA, so exercising player empowerment is something he's not going to be shy about. I bet he's still traded in the next year or two, even if this supermax might delay things by a bit.

I have the feeling Mazzulla is on a fairly short leash. He was kinda the default choice after Ime got fired, not really a guy they went out and pursued. As far as racist fans, I'm pretty sure that's an issue that can come up in any fanbase, and really don't think Texas is the place you go to get away from racism, haha.

Lastly, he's the #2 behind Tatum because he's a #2 kind of player. I don't want him if he comes here thinking he's going to be the main guy, because he simply doesn't have the level of talent to handle it. He should be the #2 option on any championship contender. If you try to build around him as your lead star, you're in for a bad time and should look forward to being the next Washington Wizards. Because let's be realistic--he's no better than Bradley Beal on offense, and might even be worse.

Agree to disagree on that second part. We don't have any real evidence of what he would do as the #1, which can be used against him or for him.

I'll say this -- he's not going to be a high APG guy or a top shot-creator for others. But he doesn't have to be like Luka or LeBron, I think his role as a #1 is going to be more like Kawhi. Obviously I'm not saying he's ever going to reach that level, but he's a killer -- a 3-level efficient scorer who doesn't waste time offensively, and can also defend at a high-level (though not as consistently locked in as a prime Kawhi was). The biggest step for him will be to up his FTA from about 5 to 8 a game.

He's improved every season and has the mentality that very few stars in the L have (including Tatum), and that sets him apart from a Bradley Beal. Obviously their stats are going to look similar because one is the clear #2 option on a perennial contender while the other has been the man on a mediocre-to-bad team.

He's one of the best "go get a bucket" guys in the NBA, and I think as long as you have some playmaking next to him (Harden?), you can win with him as a #1. If he's putting up 27/7/4 on good efficiency without being the offensive centerpiece, I'm pretty sure he can put up 29-30/7/5 as the #1 option.

Celtics do not think he is a super max player…they are always trying to trade him and the CELTIC’s fando not respect him as well. If he lose tonight, he is going to be upset. I think he will leave because of the coaching, Celtic’s fans and the team management
