Paolo was the most NBA ready, Jabari was better prospect in the longer term. It is happening. Paolo is better but Jabari will have better career.
https://watch.global.nba.com/players/vs/#!/jabari_smith/paolo_banchero You can make the argument that Jabari is already better. Better defense, better rebounder, better 3pt%, better ft%
Love Jabari, but seems like a bit of a stretch... Banchero was so close on rebounding/3P% for the overall season that they were virtually tied, and he was more efficient on higher usage. I do think Jabari has more upside as a two-way player though. I could see Banchero already being pretty close to his peak and just getting more efficient while having to share usage a little more down the road.
How we get from Jaylen Brown to Bari and Banchero? FYI nobody is at their peak, y'all be tripping, have patience.
This may or may not have any legs, depending if Brown gets All NBA this year for his contract from what I'm seeing. Also, it won't be the same if he's a Rocket of course but here are his stats without Tatum so far as the #1 option in Boston games. If Brown makes one of three five-man All-NBA Teams in 2023, he'd be eligible to receive a five-year, $ 290 million "supermax" contract extension from the Celtics this offseason -- a full $ 100 million more than the four-year, $ 190 million contract Boston could offer Brown if he doesn't make All-NBA. https://www.nbcsports.com/boston/ce...ll-nba-honors-celtics-star-makes-his-own-case Jaylen Brown, who just came off the best season of his career, will be able to sign a supermax with the Celtics if he makes an All-NBA team. But as Brian Windhorst pointed out on the Bill Simmons podcast, Jaylen will likely be headed for free agency if he doesn't qualify for the supermax. “If Jaylen gets voted All-NBA he’s going to stay a Celtic. If Jaylen doesn’t get voted All-NBA he’s going to be a free agent...” https://fadeawayworld.net/nba-insid...-jaylen-browns-future-with-the-boston-celtics https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/jaylen-brown-stats-without-jayson-tatum
Makes more sense why he would be motivated to leave if he sees Tatum as holding him back from All-NBA & making more money. But I think he'll make All-NBA this year and it'll be a moot point. You know all the sportswriters love Boston and love to award players on the teams with the best records.
With Durant and Kawhi injured or missing time, I think he'll get in as well. Likely nothing more than an interesting rumor, after that as long as Boston pays him, it prevents a Harden OKC situation and will be a wrap.
Hire Udoka. Sign Brown next year as a free agent without having to give up assets. Is this scenario possible?
Not only do you need to get your coach in place but know who (where?) you are drafting and who you can lure in FA or via trade. Its the combination of things that says swing for the fences or not. There's scenario's where I would not part with Green and there are some where I would consider it. Adding Brown alone .... I'd rather just stick with the potential of Green. Adding Brown and another high quality player and that may change.
Bro that package will net you a better player then Brown. That’s a lot. I would do Green/Sengun and at best one pick for Brown and Pritchard
Don't trade for a potential 1 year rental just sign him as a free agent. Giving up Smith green or sengun ain't worth it. Kpj might b, but I rather not waste our assets
Just to be clear, I don't think any sane GM would be pulling the trigger on a deal sending out that kinda assets for a player with one or even two years on his deal without an extension in hand - Much like they did with Harden, they made the trade and extended him immediately.
I don't care about Brown. We've got at least 3 guys who are gonna be All-NBA 8th team here in the next few years. Celtics can suck it.
It was always going to be a trade for Brown, there was no scenario the Celtics let him walk for nothing. The price has gone up considerably and I was pretty pro Brown but it would be too much of an overpay.
Pfffft at Atw thinking Tate, kpj and a few first round picks would do it is straight up delusional. If folks wants brown, they are gonna have to bend over and get trade r2pe by boston for him.
