What's the difference between a slider and a sweeper or are they one in the same. Never heard anyone referring to a sweeper until this year.

When you start getting into some really esoteric nomenclature about differences between sinkers, 2-seamers, cutters, sweepers, sliders, knuckle curves, circle change, etc.... and usually it boils down to the grip.
Basically this. Sliders was a very broad category. 4S fastballs typically go to 1 o'clock. Curves to 6 or 7. Sliders previously included (overgeneralization warning): Slurves to 8. Sweepers to 9. Ordinary sliders to 10 and 11. Slutters between 11 and 11:30. Sweeper has just been separated out from sliders, but still a lot of different types of pitches get lumped into sliders. Edit: Please note that velocity and forces used to make the ball move also dictate pitch classification.
Something tells me we should've put our money somewhere else. Is this another Bagwell signing? I'm trying to add Montero + Brantley salaries and trying to see what we could've gotten...
That is very odd. I think there’s something more going on. Either he is having a personal issue or there is some kind of chronic injury.
This is laughable and depressing at the same time. The two guys we were eager as hell to get back to the club to help this awful offense after their rehab assignments, are still going to be out as a result of said rehab assignments.
I was expecting Salazar go down when Brantley was ready. If he's not coming back, I think they need to consider sending Salazar down and bringing up one of the others guys at AAA. Julks and Hensely have had their chance, we need somebody that may do something if we put them in the lineup regularly. If they want to keep Salazer and send Julks down to give Diaz more of a look I'm fine with that too. Diaz hasn't exactly set the world on fire himself, but something has to be shaken up up a little. Unlike everybody else on the team he hasn't been given consistent AB's for any stretch. Hensley,Julks,Dubon, Maldonado, we can't keep doing that with Abreu stumbling around. It's not bad luck with that roster, we're just a bad offense period.
This was so predictable. Should have signed or traded for a legit, younger OF with some power. Relying on a 36 year old coming off another MAJOR surgery was foolish.
Get on the phone Brown and let's make some MAY trades baybeeeeeeee. Git r dun (no seriously... do it )
Yeah we’ve become pretty spoiled. Injuries haven’t been as significant as they’re proving to be so far this year. Also, our FA additions have been suspect at best.
Finally saw that this was available on the Apple podcast app. I'm through two episodes now (would have listened sooner but when the team is struggling it makes me really not want to consume much media about them). My early thoughts. Is there something that can be done about Gabe's audio? It's weird because one of y'all sounds so crisp and clean and the other sounds like he is recording on a speaker phone across the room. I end up turning the sound up when listening in my car so I can understand what Gabe is saying but then when the other (Andrew? I'm blanking on the name) chimes in it is overly loud. Content-wise, I love that you guys talk about advanced stats but don't assume we all know what they are. I'm interested in that stuff but not so much so that I truly understandt he basis of all the different metrics that are used now. So it's very helpful to get a quick overview. Might do you some good to find some topics that you disagree on and then debate on the podcast. It would make for more interesting listening. Maybe one of you plays devil's advocate and argues why Maldonado is valuable enough to play 80% of the games Overall a good start, room to grow. I enjoyed it and will keep listening. Though I'll likely get behind when the team is struggling against poor competition.
Soreness might just be soreness. It could be a more serious reaggravation of the injury. Also, recall Brantley had some personal issues during Spring Training. Time will tell which it is.
