There will be teams willing to give a lot more for OG I would guess. If Raptors say yes to that then yeah I think that's a no brainer
Memphis offered three FRPs for OG. You're going to have to up that offer big time. https://www.si.com/nba/raptors/news/toronto-raptors-trade-deadline-offers-for-og-anunoby-revealed
I get that and he might be worth it. But what does that say about Porter's worth around the league? People talking like he's this up and coming star yet he can't bring in OG when a player and a pick are included? Tells the tale. You can have bloated numbers and still be flat.
I agree Anunoby won't be available for that level of package, but I also want to point out that all FRPs are not created equal. Memphis first round picks are worth almost nothing. Everyone knows they're going to be great for a long time with Ja, JJJ, and Bane to build around. They have an amazing young core for the future and tons of depth in the short term. Our Brooklyn pick next season might be worth more than 3 Memphis FRPs combined.
IF we end up with Wemby, he's a gifted offensive 4 who will probably be as fragile as Chet. We still need a roster around him
No it won't. They are trying to unload salary and almost unloaded him to the Timberwolves at the deadline.
They have six players accounting for over 85% of the salary cap. Would you like me to explain primary colors to you as well?
Cashing out Green… I don’t see the long term fit with Porter and Green and Porter has no trade value. I see Green get hot and look like an all world player then the next few games look g league like. Hopefully others see the all world and think they can get consistently and are willing to give up something for him. Orlando’s FRPs this year #7 & #11 For Green it’s clean and helps both team now and in the future. Our FRP Wembanyama or Miller if not trade the pick for multi FRP in the future. #7 take Wallace or Black —> get our point guard to grow with. #11 best fit available adjust to the other picks moving forward Point Move Porter to the off guard. Sign a veteran point to a 2 year contract. Let Ty Ty & (Black or Wallace) fight for playing time. -Vet (so team can function) off guard Porter catch and shoot, understands how offense works, athletic defenseman. Christopher is a good player that was asked to do to much. Now ONLY play defense and hit open shots or move the ball, he will do fine. Plus possibly FRP #11 or #20 Small Forward (Maybe Miller) Eason then Tate. Martin needs to be traded this off season with or without the addition of Miller. Power Forward (Maybe Wembanyama) Smith (maybe Hendricks or Walker) Garuba should demand playing time too. Possibly Eason if the Small Forward spot is taken over by better play. Smith with better team players around him should help his game. Center Sengun (used properly) (maybe Wembanyama, Walker, or Hendricks) Garuba should demand playing time. lots of good things will happen organically with out Green around. We are better with out him, IMO.
So let me get this straight... since KPJ is worth nothing let's then jump to a random conclusion and trade our extra young #2 pick with the quickest first step in the league for #7 and #11 picks. Really important for you to do this right after Green's efficiency slumped because we had no PG or shooters. This would leave us with KPJ and two average rookies (rather than KPJ and Green) just when we are trying to win games for the first time. We still have no veteran rim protection and we are hoping KPJ will be amazing "catch and shoot, understands how offense works, athletic defenseman". On a side note, it's absolutely incredible that you can see KPJ adjusting his shot selection, learning NBA offenses and becoming a defender in one off season but you can't imagine developing Green into a worthwhile player. Why not imagine Green magically becomes a more willing catch and shooter, understands NBA offenses and becomes an athletic defenseman? That would make Jalen Green a near-max player. What's the magical solution that only works for KPJ? Is he more coachable? Harder worker off the court? Harder worker on the court? What's only going to work for KPJ and not Green? If KPJ has no value, we'll let his contract expire or dump him with a 2nd round pick at the deadline. If Jalen is not a worthy starter, he'll come off the bench (it's not like your rookies are going to start over him lol). We're not going to trade Jalen Green for two lesser rookies just because everyone believes KPJ sucks. That's not a logical thought, never mind a reasonable trade idea. Trade value means you're good. If Jalen has it and KPJ doesn't, guess why that is. This is not a charity, we're not trying to win the most underrated project manager championship. We're trying to get the best players to win an NBA title. If there's someone you want at #7 that you think is going to be a top 3 player in this draft, we have future draft picks to acquire that. There's no one at 11 the Rockets need for anything, we're flooded with that calibre of prospect. We have 7 first or second year players on the roster, your bright idea is to add two picks in the middle of the lottery?? This is one of the worst trade ideas I've seen in 35 pages to be honest. You're arbitrarily extending our rebuild by at least 2 years with this trade and the only problem you ever mentioned in your post is that KPJ has no trade value. What was even solved here? You cashed out on Green when he was obviously about to have a much better season under Udoka? *Clap clap clap* It's like you're sacrificing 2 years of organization rebuild to bring some trade value for KPJ. Absurd.
Remember this post in a few years when Green is a bust. He won’t see playing time because he plays no defense at all. He has no skill set to pull from. Even his shooting form lacks structure. He is an athlete not a basketball player. Hide and watch & I hope I am wrong.
Don't worry at all, it's 100% certain you're wrong and clear that you don't understand the components of a successful basketball player.
I think it would take more, but I am down to bringing Capela back with that pick and one of our bench players not named Tari or KPJ.
