Man of the people. The average Chechen monthly salary is about $700.

The Ukraine should roll into Russia - take some land - that is the only way you are going to get Russia to give up what it already has.....

Can't forget that he was a conservative Democrat for many years before that, while serving 5 consecutive (and controversial) terms as president of the Screen Actors Guild. Reagan didn't register as a Republican until 1962, campaigning for Harry Truman in 1948, then campaigning for Eisenhower in both elections and for Nixon in 1960, all the while still as a Democrat.

JFK would be considered right wing today.

No, definitely not "right wing." He might have been viewed as a conservative Democrat by some in the party, but since he was murdered less than 3 years into the first of what would have undoubtedly been two terms, we'll never know what his ultimate record would have been on a host of things.

It was a far different era. Heck, Reagan couldn't sniff the nomination of the Republican Party today. Looking back at the early 1960's through the lens of today's twisted, broken politics is a mistake, in my opinion.

They've always been apprehensive about their first strike capabilities. We'd probably vaporize their half-decade old nuke and mobile land silos before they can get word to shoot back. The rest would be a Russian roulette of nuclear subs plus remaining mobile launchers for our defense systems to knock those down.

We're spending more than the other next ten nations combined for the promise of this capability in an era where its still foolish to gamble on high percentages in the 80-90% ranges.

Sounds insane and wasteful, if you ask me. But alas, we are at war...

1980s/90s Joe Biden couldn't get the democratic nomination today.

How much the US outsourced to Blackwater was bad but that was mainly for security. Actual offensives were carried out by the US military. The Wagner is operating on a scale far larger than Blackwater and with more independence.

That's a game we could play all day. There's a member in the GARM, the moniker escapes me, who declares in one of the draft lottery threads that, "We're going to get pick number (fill in the blank) because we're going to get (some player he wants)." The post makes no sense. It amounts to a silly game! Are we going to play silly games? ;-)

it's not surprising, if true, but should also not give us, or UKR, any sense of over-confidence. Russia remains extremely dangerous, with a wounded sense of pride, and vast resources at their disposal, should they choose to use them.
