How long do you wait at a light or stop sign before blasting your horn at someone who is obviously on their phone? Same thing for people in traffic or driving with their heads down looking at their phones. And other honking critera.
Why even bother if you don't lean on the horn for a good 15 seconds to make sure the other driver heard you? Its only basic politeness. Also some forceful, agressive upthrusting gestures with your middle finger can help catch their attention and ensure that the other driver is fully aware the light has changed and you would appreciate their prompt attention to the matter.
if driver waits more than 10% of length of green light...HONK FOR EQUIVALENT TIME. so 30 second green...start the honk at 3 seconds for 3 seconds. of course, Tesla drivers, you give them all 30 because FSD.
Why are car horns always a major 3rd interval? Too happy. Why not a minor 3rd? Or better yet, why not a tri-tone? It's the devil's interval for cryin' out loud.
It depends. A quick honk is warranted if you are sitting at a left turn behind 8 cars and you know that protected left is only going green for 7 seconds. That’s on the first up to get outta there quickly and set the tone for the rest. Can’t tell you how many times 1 jackass looking at their phone ****s up the train. Just get off of your ****ing phone. It’s really not that difficult. Can you live without social media for a whole hour?
On a related note, if people didn't leave 8 car distances at signals, more people would be able to catch the green.

true...by 3 seconds I'm reaching for it, by 5, I'm giving u a whole concert with the horn but I've mellowed out on the streets for the most part over the years because people are crazy these days and I'm not trying to be a road rage statistic
I don't honk at people. I'm not someone who looks at their phone during a light, but if someone honks at me at a light, I go slower. Probably will get shot one of these days.
What if the horn is the La Cucaracha. Gets the the other driver's attention, but in a less aggressive way.
I am probably to quick on the horn, if you havent gone in a few seconds I am giving you the light chirp...........there is a light going into my subdivision that I swear is only green for like 5-6 seconds, so if you aren't on your game I have to sit and wait for the next light...................slimy bastardo
