Emmanuel Valdez the man I was unhappy to part with at last years trade deadline is off to a great start for the Redsox. Logjam be damn!!!
Valdez is not off to that great of a start and he has really struggled in AAA this year. If anything my fear of him turning out to be good as gone way down watching how he has performed post deadline. His success has been more of a Corey Julks type success that is completely unsustainable.
Sugar Land has 20 runs and 26 hits thru 7 innings of todays game. Madris and Leon have 2 HR each. Kessinger, Dirden, and Matijevic also have homers. Korey Lee has 5 hits. Don’t wanna jinx it but those hitters appear to be heating up.
Kenedy Corona is 3-3 with two doubles so far for Corpus today; one of those doubles drove in two. He'd been a little quiet these last few weeks.
you’re absolutely right. Given the way Dana Brown has aggressively promoted prospects before, and the way he’s talked about continuing to do so in a Houston, it wouldn’t shock me if Gilbert is in Houston by the All-Star Break if he has success in AA.
*checks box score* they're playing in Albuquerque, so your story checks out Watch out for their next series in Colorado Springs...and Vegas...and...
This is only a good problem to have but unless there is an injury among the OF or Jake and/or Chas very much underperform in the next couple of months, it will take a trade to make a place for Gilbert this year. There simply isn't a hole in the roster to justify using up his rookie year, especially since he is tracking to make top 100 lists before next season and therefore could earn Houston an extra draft pick.
Even with all of this action at high elevation, Lee is not having that great of a year. 34 hits but only 9 for extra bases and only 7 walks.
You want to promote a guy straight from High A to displace a player on track for 3 fwar? You want to promote a player posting below average production in AAA to displace the player who beat him out in spring training and is finally settling in? Hm.
