A longtime GOP lawyer who worked closely with Trump to overturn the 2020 election said that the GOP must restrict access to the vote for young voters. A number of laws have already been passed, and more are being proposed to execute this.

It was never about anything more than voter suppression to gain power. This is the GOP, a power-hungry party that threw representative democracy aside a long time ago.

Texas Republican state lawmaker testified in a Billings courtroom Tuesday that her GOP colleagues were motivated when crafting new election laws last year by the perception that “college students tend to be liberal.”

Donald Trump admitted on Monday that making it easier to vote in America would hurt the Republican party.

The president made the comments as he dismissed a Democratic-led push for reforms such as vote-by-mail, same-day registration and early voting as states seek to safely run elections amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Democrats had proposed the measures as part of the coronavirus stimulus. They ultimately were not included in the $2.2tn final package, which included only $400m to states to help them run elections.

“The things they had in there were crazy. They had things, levels of voting that if you’d ever agreed to it, you’d never have a Republican elected in this country again,” Trump said during an appearance on Fox & Friends. “They had things in there about election days and what you do and all sorts of clawbacks. They had things that were just totally crazy and had nothing to do with workers that lost their jobs and companies that we have to save.”

what they don’t realize is that stuff like this just makes young people hate the GOP even more

When your ideas are unpopular, you either change your ideas, persuade others to like your ideas, or you suppress the votes. The GOP chooses to suppress.

Countywide polling locations on Election Day would be banned in Texas under a bill approved by the Texas Senate on Thursday.

Senate Bill 990, authored by Republican Sen. Bob Hall of Edgewood, passed 17-12 along party lines. The bill — if approved by the state House — would eliminate countywide voting centers on Election Day and require residents to vote at an assigned precinct, typically in their neighborhood. Larger voting centers would be permitted through early voting.

Currently, 90 counties — including large metro counties like Harris and Dallas as well as rural ones — are approved by the secretary of state’s office to use countywide voting centers on Election Day.

Minnesota has always been good about encouraging voting. The Minnesota Republican Party at one time was also for making voting easier.

Just saw this story about a woman in GA who has been going after registered voters and questioning their registration including the veteran feature in the story. No surprise she believes Trump won the 2020 election.

More disturbing is she says God has told her to do this. At a time that we’re worried about religious extremists it’s people like this who use religion to justify their political views and harass fellow Americans I worry about more in the US.

Adulting is a millennial word so is it fitting to ask the parents to teach their kid civics on top of check balancing? Heck schools and colleges can get in on it as well.

An official id actually has other benefits such as travel and opening up bank accounts. Anything white collar and on the record needs something more than a school ID...

Maybe the parents themselves don't know how to find ever changing rules but that might be just the thing for community organizers to tackle.

the GOP's only chance to win is to suppress the vote, gerrymander the districts and try to outright steal the election by asking for votes to be found and putting in fake electors.

Seems Neo-nazi supported policies are not winning with most of the US public. Shocking.

Hey idiots on my ignore list how does it feel to be on the same side as the racists, bigots and treasonous traitors to the US?
