Hey, I like that song too! Still, the Astros have proven to be dishonest when it comes to injuries over the past couple of seasons.

Pitching has been as good as expected if not better. Maldy, Abreu, and Hensley can be isolated as the reason for the team’s struggles and poorer than expected record. To me the answer is to demote Hensley when McCormick or Brantley is healthy, make Diaz the catcher paired with everyone except Framber, and move Abreu to 7th in the order.
Yep. When we did our first month recap we didn’t give out a LVP for pitcher because really our pitching has been awesome and zero reasonable complaints should be listened to. He picked Abreu as our LVP, I picked Maldy and we went through who was doing what and it’s basically inescapable that this team only has 3 good hitters at present and about 5 guys that need to be replaced or moved down in the lineup. the good news is we have ready replacements for 4 of the 5 we just need health and fortitude, and the 5th is Abreu and there is still hope for him. Short answer- this team won’t get better offensively until they have better players and those better players are on the way.
JV making his season debut with the Mets today, second batter and seven pitches in out of the park. Two pitches later and back to back DET homers lol
JV was always a mercenary. Not that I blame him. I don’t wish him ill and I’ll always love who he was in 2017-2022 but I don’t feel one tiny bit sorry for him.
Altuve Brantley Bregman Alvarez Abreu Tucker Pena McCormick/Meyers/Dubon Diaz/Maldy Given Brown’s recent comments on Diaz, if everybody stays healthy it’s hard to see anywhere Houston can make a meaningful trade for a position player this season. This might be another year with a very underwhelming deadline for the Astros. Maybe a backup corner infielder might make some sense. If the Rockies rebuild and were willing to eat a bunch of money I’d be interested in Kris Bryant.
So we keep Rylan Bannon on the roster? I agree Hensley has been garbage and deserves demotion, but Bannon wasn't even hitting AAA pitching this season. I'm not sure Hensley has much to gain facing lesser pitching he's already proven himself against. Until we get Altuve back one of those 2 has to stay. It would be nice if Julks had shown any aptitude for the infield.
Pitching, Pitching and more Pitching. That's going to be our deadline barring any crazy injury to Tucker or Alvarez. Idk who's available, but I can see us paying a premium for a ToR guy or #2/3. Might have to make some tough choices but I do think we are aggressive. Of course all dependent on Garcia and Urquidy prognosis.
I think McCullers will also be an important piece. I find it kind of hard to see them paying for a SP if Valdez, Javier, Brown, McCullers, and Garcia are all healthy. Still so much unknown about this team.
Definitely. Tons of question marks about the rotation health as well as hitting health. I hope we would make a big splash if needed though.
Not panicking yet, still a chance McCullers is healthy for a good part of the year and you can always trade for another arm at the deadline. Altuve will add a lot of pop at the top of the lineup, and I’m optimistic Maldy presence will slowly get smaller.
Pretty sure Garcia is going to miss extended time. Maybe the entire season. I'm basing this on him going for a second opinion.
He's got a future ahead of him. Just do the surgery and get healthy. See you in 2024 postseason or 2025 SALSA.
