Taking Knorr's spot in Fayetteville is Jose Guedez, who went 2-0 with one save and an 0.69 ERA in 7 appearances (2 starts, 26.1 IP total) in his pro debut down in the DSL last season. Guedez, a 21-year-old from Venezuela, allowed 15 hits (.165 opponent average), walked 8, and struck out 36 for the DSL Orange team.
Good... No reason to play the slow promotion game with guys that were drafted out of college and are performing well. HOPEFULLY some of them can reach Corpus this year and not get rocked.
Narbe Cruz has homered for the second straight night for Fayetteville. That's his 3rd home run of the year, which is a new career high. Cruz, 22, is one of the myriad of Cubans in the system. He's shown a decent eye (10.3% walk rate) but hadn't really shown much else offensively until this season. He is off to a nice start in his first action outside the complex leagues, but let's see what he does as we move into summer before taking him seriously as a prospect.
Drew Gilbert homered again (5). This one was a 3-run blast. Meanwhile, Jacob Melton has two stolen bases (5).
Another nice outing for Rhett Kouba: 6 IP, 5 H (solo HR allowed), 2 R (1 ER), 7 K Corpus is being shut out, however.
I am thinking it may be time to move Gordon & Arrighetti to AAA. There are no potential starters in Sugar Land that are likely to be ready ahead of them.
Dubin and Endersby were both pounded. Dubin 2 IP, 3 H, 5 ER, 4 BB, 1 K, 2 HR Endersby 0.2 IP, 4 H, 6 ER, 2 BB, 1 HR
Click's 21 draft is looking a lot better, quite a few guys have bubbled up. It really wasn't looking too hot about this time last year. The 22 class looking like a home run right now.
Current wRC+ for 2021 draftees: Wagner 196 Loperfido 171 Kato 157 Whitaker 151 Hamilton 107 Williams 73 Stevens 61 Sandle 40 Nieves 23 K/9 for 2021 draftees: Swanson 12.8 Kouba 12.3 Gordon 11.9 Salgado 10 Arrighetti 8.2 Brown 7.6 Chaidez n/a Kind of average so far although Loperfido is a potential star who could justify the entire draft by himself. Whitaker’s k rate is extremely troubling and Wagner is hurt, all the other hitters aren’t producing. On the pitching side Kouba has been a bright spot and I am optimistic about Gordon and Arrighetti.
Nice my main man Angel Manicure. Refresh my memory please. Which leagues are hitter friendly ones? is AA hitter friendly at all? I seem to remember like PCL or whatever was hitter friendly, but not sure how impressed I should be with a 3 era in AA? Is that pretty respectable? I know 3 is very respectable in the pros.
Macuare probably isn’t going to be good enough to join the Framber/Javier/Garcia/Urquidy/Abreu group of core arms, but he has potential to be a solid BoR SP or multi-inning RP. He’s still only 23.
