It has been about a month so far. The Astros are 16-14 with a Pythagorean of 19-11. They are only 2.5 games behind the Rangers. The Astros are without Altuve, Brantley, McCormick (3 of 8 Astros starters in the line up) and are without 3 starting pitchers now. I get it is frustrating to watch this right now - but this is a very good team. Also, I am laying off Dusty personally - most of the roster decisions he has made this year have worked out........ Meyers and Dubon are carrying the Astros some nights. Bregman and Abreu are going to hit again......... and the line up is going to be at least 8 deep - and I am really questioning if Maldonado will even be healthy enough to make it without the DL the rest of the year, supposedly he is playing really banged up again and it is the beginning of May.
Then why not play Diaz more? Some life lesson Dusty is trying to teach, I'm sure. Bregman will hit again, but having him in the 2 hole is killing our offense right now.
I really think some folks just forget how long the season is and what a grind it is. We live in a “right now” world.
Yeah, they've got some concerns that's for sure. I'm not terribly optimistic on this team even with injuries so far taken into account. Then again, I also hate Dusty as a manager period. So there's that.
