I have a feeling that the Texans called the Arizona bluff. I venture to think that Houston knew the #3 pick was there to be had, if the Texans eliminated the competition for a trade. I also think that they probably had Anderson rated higher than Stroud, and if they could only have one would have taken Anderson. But by picking Stroud, they virtually eliminate any bidding wars for the #3 pick.
I did read though, that were a couple of other teams (far less than with Stroud) that were still trying to trade for the pick because they wanted Anderson.
Arizona still got a haul from the Texans. Hope this doesn't turn out like the Watson trade where Cleveland got the 4th overall pick the following year (2018) or the Tunsil deal where Miami got the 3rd overall pick in 2021.

The way I understand it: “Hey CJ, welcome to the team, you have a strong (texting) relationship with Tank, can you text him and see what teams he thinks may try to get him so we can be sure to pounce at the right time? You know, so we can get your buddy over here..” CJ says “yo, tank says the giants, browns, cardinals, and raiders all talked to him” caserio jumps raiders, who take a DT as they are not ready for their 2nd WR after Dell and they take one next time, same with cardinals. Then giants and browns take other receivers as a reaction. Boom 4D chess. Lol.
Im suprised players in like the 4th round have an idea who will take them. Why would teams leak that to the players?
