2B Jose Altuve SS Jeremy Pena DH Yordan Alvarez 3B Alex Bregman RF Kyle Tucker 1B Jose Abreu LF Michael Brantley / Corey Julks C Yainer Diaz CF Jake Meyers/Chas McCormick Mauricio Dubon
Diaz got to 2nd base twice and threw out 2 base runners. He was our best player tonight. Pisses me off Dusty didn't raise hell on that extra time out. Abreu probably would've grounded or struck out anyway but I'd rather have 1% chance than nothing. Seems like he never argues the calls he should and just wants to keep the peace with umps.
grabbed these fun facts from astros reddit -We are ranked 30th (aka last) in scoring between innings 1-6. So basically we are only capable of hitting off bad relievers. That is extremely worrying. -Our offense per OPS+ is worse than the A's this season which is very sad
The offense just isn't good right now. We've got Yordan and Tucker who have been great overall, but are slumping a bit now, it happens. Everybody else is a league averageish type hitter or complete dog s**t. Bregman will get going eventually, but because of how awful the team around him is his slow start is glaring. If we were healthy Meyers and Pena are great everyday options to mix in, preferably at the bottom of the order, they are 2 of our better bats now. Dubon has played over his head, but is JAG and should be a bench player or 9 hitter on a good offense. He does provide great defensive value, but that doesn't help our currently anemic offense. Julks had a nice stretch, but now that the BABIP is starting to regularize he's looking more like what he probably is, and that's not an MLB regular right now. Then there's Abreu and Maldonado, who I don't really need to say anything about. Getting the 3 starters back will help a lot, but so might playing all of your best offensive options to maximize what offense we have available.
TBH my opinion only, I think that injury goes back to World Series game where he gave up all the home runs.
Ahh I think you hadn't edited or finished your original post, hence my confusion. Let us pray about it then.
When Altuve comes back, I would find some time for Dubon at 1B to spell Abreu occasionally if Abreu continues to struggle.
Jose Altuve Energy and Leadership in the Lineup is really missing. Chas McCormick and Michael Brantley also
Can you have imagined even thinking that much less saying that a month ago? I wonder if they’d consider Dubon for CF as long as his bat stays hot? He’s played all outfield positions I believe.
