    adelman was well respected.

I'd say in my lifetime as a rocket fan adelman and Rudy were well liked and probably the best coaches we've had. JVG and MDA were both one dimensional but net positive. the two worst were mchale and Silas, both seemed to actually hold the team back.

Adelman was chided for not caring enough about the defensive side of the ball and occasionally being to rigid with his offensive philosophy.
Many fans wanted CD over Rudy to begin with and by the end he was routinely ridiculed for letting the youngsters, namely Francis and Mobley, run over him.

When I say every coach, I mean EVERY coach.
It's the easiest (and laziest) complaint to make when the team isn't living up to fan expectations...situation and context be damned.

That may be true about Adelman, @34to11, but I don't really remember it quite that way -- I felt like he was mostly respected... My memory sucks, but when I think back I feel like some people questioned his defensive acumen when in reality his defenses were actually, generally, pretty good... Please correct me if I'm wrong though. Pretty sure the Timberwolves defense got a lot better on his watch, anyway...

But yeah, you're right, people will always bag on a coach first and ask questions later... and it may or may not have much basis in reality.

To be clear, I'm not speaking to the veracity of the criticisms (some were well deserved, others were the product of agendas/narratives) I'm just pointing out that coach blaming is a time-honored tradition around here.

    Agreed, it 100% is.

Within that context, somehow in my mind Adelman sort of stands out as notably less s*** on than others... (Which my adhd brain decided was interesting and worth mentioning lol.) Rudy probably might be in that category too... Even when people didn't like the direction we were going with Francis/Mobley, nobody could get away with truly s****ing on Rudy... Partly because of his health issues at the time? Kinda trying to check my memory here... The history of coach-killing on CF is an interesting topic.

JVG got a good amount of love on here, but his offense got regularly crucified on CF and people were really ready for a change after a while (which Adelman provided, and maybe be got a little extra grace period for that reason?). D'Antoni failed to deliver us to the promised land and his style left him open to charges of being too lackadaisacal...

Maybe Morey just chased Rick the Ruler away in favor of McHale, before we could get tired of him... And certainly he looked great in comparison to McHale.
