Not to be obtuse but . . .what did he do that was so agregious . . . Talked isht??? They all do Not back it up . . . alot do . . .. Or is he simply not that good? Rocket River
I get as an outsider you dont like him. Hes got that type of personality But for the memphis grizzlies as an organization it makes zero sense to single him out. They had no chance of winning that series. Theres been plenty of loud mouths in league history. Whatever they think he did is not an anomaly
They really acting like dillon brooks isnt an above average role player just because he trash talked the lakers
the grizzlies hate started when they went after the golden state golden boys too It just so happens that their rivals are the 2 biggest bandwagon teams
I understand not wanting Brooks back--signing players the level of Brooks to significant money is how you lock up a non-contender with no cap wiggle room. But putting this out through Shams, rather than quietly just not re-signing him, seems intended to send a message. It's like they want to act like they're taking a stand against "bad culture" without having to sacrifice a legitimately valuable player like Ja.
The Grizzlies FO have zero spine, it's actually embarrassing. The national media turned on them for daring to go against GSW and the Lakers, now they are trying to scapegoat Brooks. Now they look like little bi*tches Kowtowing to Lebron, absolutely disgusting
Dillon brooks is a low iq scrub. hes been that way for a long time. It didn't just happen suddenly. Said memphis had to move on from him and low and behold look whats happening. Good for them. it's easily the right move
Too bad he wants to be more than 3/D since he shoots better than most of our players from 3. Man that was a depressing sentence to type.
Patrick Beverley? He wanted a bigger role when he left Houston. The difference between Bev and Brooks is that Beverley has had an impact on team culture because he plays hard and, in his prime, was effective as a spot up shooter. Therefore he was a true 3 and D guy. Dillon Brooks hasn't been a good enough shooter to be a true 3 and D threat. He also seems to want to impact team culture by what he says but he's just not that level of player for that to have any major positive impact. That being said. If he comes cheap, Brooks could serve a role. I don't think Udoka will accept the antics and he will fall in line. Also, plenty of players move from "Big bro"/leader to a lesser role. It happens all the time. Chris Paul has a lesser role than when he started in Phx, Haslem actually used to play basketball and have a bigger voice. Lowry went from the guy to one of the guys on the Raptors. It's fairly common. The difference is it's usually because the guy is older and not able to set the culture with his play anymore. The question is - was Brooks ever really a leader for the Grizzlies or was he just the guy who gave the media sound bites? More of a Dennis Rodman type.
That's some rough treatment right there with that statement - I doubt that the management would've been so vocal if the Brooks had any "big bro" type of clout in that locker room. Ja & management needed someone to blame, so they picked the easy target - a player, who was a "distraction during playoff and who was getting too full of himself (and also past his prime). Judging by how Pat Bev has been moving around the league, I could see Brooks going to China in a season or two. Serves him right for being a front runner.
