I'm sorry- I meant throwing in actual baseball games by the end of this month. He's going to have to go through some sort of spring training lengthening ritual. My shot in the dark is June 19th. First Rehab start May 30th.
Maybe. And I understand the inclination to not believe the Astros front office about an injury. But I think they just see it as load management to start him in June. Kind of like Clemens did when he was old. I'm not 100% sure the Mets aren't doing that with JV.
I don't think its a second TJS as much as surgery for the torn flexor that happened in the 2001 ALDS. He's tried to let it heal with time and eventual adjustment of his pitches to prevent worsening. They were apparently 50/50 last year as to which way it would go, but ultimately he was able to pitch some effective innings towards the end of the season/playoffs. This year is likely going to be similar to that. This may be his new norm... unless he has surgery and comes back from the year long rehab.
Yup... and this frustrates me. The recovery is 9 months if he needs the surgery. Keep putting it off and next year is in jeopardy as well.
They are running out the lineup I have wanted for weeks. It would be great if they would let this lineup be primary until Brantley gets back, but I’m sure Maldi will continue to get 4 out of every 5 starts until Crane or the GM force Dusty’s hand.
No reason to call up France until the day he would start if that's the plan. I wonder if they're gonna try to go through the 4 man rotation skipping the extra off day. We don't "need" a 5th starter until the 8th assuming Bielak is filling in.
I want Yainer Diaz to have a 5-homer game tonight and Brown to throw a 20+ strikeout perfect game just to see Seal's reaction to Maldy starting tomorrow.
