Sometimes it’s more about who’s due to pitch vs. simply bringing up the best prospect. Bielak was due to pitch soon… despite the HR, its very fortunate he was there tonight or this would likely be a messy bullpen game of Blanco, Martinez, Maton… not to mention using high leverage arms in a game they may not be winning. He’s also been in this situation before. France/Whitely will get their shot but they’re not going to be thrown into the wolves such as this. They’ll likely go on a set schedule.
Bielak is a AAAA pitcher as well as Blanco, Martinez, etc. Depending on guys like that will be tough with the injuries going on with the starters. We'll see how this goes.
Here is a little suggestion to Bielak from pitching coach @nook…. Don’t throw a fastball hitter three fastballs in the strike zone in a 4 pitch sequence…. At 92 mph. Bad **** happens.
