No, the realism is the Jags are young and talented with the best QB in the division. They’re ahead of our rebuild. It’s wishful thinking that we win the division even with the talent infusion.
The realism is that I hate all the teams in our division and refuse to acknowledge anything good about them. Go Texans.
On top of this we have Stroud and Anderson. And 135 mil… Did we pay a lot? Yes. Did we have a lot to spend? Also yes. Plus Demeco is legit in love with Will.
Wide receiver is our weakest position group. o-line could be anywhere from solid to horrible based on center and green.
DL is a little suspect too. Coming off a historically bad run defense I hope the addition of Rankins will be enough. Further development from Harris and the addition of Perryman will also help (hopefully) as a good part of the issue was runs within the A-B gaps.
I agree our lb group could still be weak. I really wanted Jalen Carter and think he will be the steal of this draft. Rankin should help. Harris needs to step up big time.
Rankins and Ridgeway will particularly help with this. Also Perryman while not good in coverage, is an elite run defender.
Oh not calling them busts. But a rookie QB under a rookie C and sophomore OG coming off any abysmal/injury plagued rookie season is scary.
It is but it’s nice to even be thinking these thoughts. Let the fan base live a little, it’s been a long, disgusting 4 years. The wildcard is just how good is Demeco Ryan’s? Can he pull a Daboll? Can he outcoach the talent. There’s plenty of reason for optimism.
For sure, I’m not trying to be a buzz kill. My optimism has been high but now I’m in the wait and see because this franchise has crushed me too many times
