Just as trump has made a mockery of politics and the presidency, trump has made a mockery of the legal system. Not a lawyer, but this letter appears to be a long effort to throw crap against the wall and hope something sticks. Its as he is saying "we can't win on legal grounds so..." Hopefully the judge tosses this in the can, but you never know...

While I'm inclined to believe the allegation knowing what else I think I know about Epstein and Trump, its hard to really have a feel for the merit because it didn't go to trial.
Trump’s strategy is to date the judge to cite him for contempt. They feel that the judge will not actually want to put Trump in jail and fines will be taken care of by fundraising. In the meantime Trump can play martyr again to fundraise and get his supporters riled up. he can then settle when it appears that he has no chance of winning or appeal.
