the best tacos I had were in Dallas from a rented taquero. They drenched their tortillas in some type of oil that turned them into crack.
What kinds of Tacos? Best Chicken Tacos? Best Brisket Tacos? Best Ground Beef Tacos? Rocket River I NEED ANSWERS!!
No. He had the "oil" in a condiment squeeze bottle and would drench the tortillas with it on the skillet
Lately I've been into El Barbon taco trucks. I get the tacos tamaulipas. The one I go to is on Monroe and Fuqua.
Why can’t we have an awesome taqueria with Al Pastor and Arabes like they have in Puebla cooked on a proper trompo? I love visiting Puebla, but I want those at least once a week.
Dona Lena. But best broth = Candente. Tacos are like centers or running backs. Too difficult to rank.
Taqueria Laredo on Calvacade for great barbacoa tacos. They have other good stuff, but barbacoa on a flour tortilla is what you go with. Breakfast tacos (typically egg with anything) I give the nod to Villa Arcos on Navigation (thank God they are open again). Street tacos, that's a tough one, but personally I enjoy this food truck that sets up near garden villas, off telephone road called Los Gorditos. I'm sure there are plenty other good places, but I enjoy this place. Tacos al vapor, gringas and campechanas, I recommend Tacos Tec off Monroe/45, good good ****. I'm not sure on Tacos Birria, feels like it hit the scenes a couple of years ago and white people jumped on bandwagon. Most places make that **** too greasy and in some cases, love overloading it with cheese as if they are trying to hide the taste of the meat. I still haven't found a place for this kind of tacos that is actually good. I've heard a lot of good reviews on Tacos Brothers in downtown. I went a few times to give them a try, but felt they were bland. Maybe I'll go back to give them another chance.
I read something years ago that may still be pertinent: it has to do with the City health inspectors and the fact that you've got open-air pork hanging around for a few hours. Doesn't make total sense to me. eta: things may have changed?!? https://www.chron.com/food/article/tacos-y-mas-trompo-tacos-houston-17289943.php @LosPollosHermanos, here's another TxMonthly article, I trust their taco guy (they've got a bbq guy and now a taco guy also, what a hell of a job): https://www.texasmonthly.com/food/t...ium=paid&utm_campaign=search&utm_content=Sale
Si….cocallina oil . Basically, what we’re looking at here is a regular trans fatty crappy oil (think crappiest you can find) and they infuse it with cocaine. There’s been a string of busts! I’m kidding! Look at his face!
Taqueria Laredo on Washington FTW. Best fajita or spicy fajita tacos in Houston. /thread (do people still say “FTW” or “/thread” nowadays?)
