I am a little confused on last part of the newest episode. I don't know if I am supposed to be or I just don't understand it.
I think there's some intentional vagueness. Spoiler The first thing was the "sending my blood story" that Mattson told Shiv. Sounds like a lot of people think it was a made-up story that Mattson told Shiv to see if he could trust her to not tell her brothers/the board. He may have suspected she was disgruntled from being left out of a leadership position in the company and testing if he could "turn her." She passed. Seems reasonable since Mattson called her at the end of the episode to "take a picture of her brothers faces," and she obliged. I wouldn't be surprised if they're setting up Shiv to backstab her brothers and get some sort of role in the new company from Mattson, but who knows. The last part of the episode on the airplane is just Mattson knowing that Roman and Kendall were trying to tank the deal, so he goes around them directly to the board (i.e., Frank) and make it sound like they successfully negotiated a 5 point increase in the deal in order to guarantee the sale. He wants to see their faces, because he knows he successfully outmaneuvered them. Also, Kieran Culkin should win an Emmy. This scene was awesome.
It’s fascinating for me that I (at least I think I do) know good acting when I see it. Separating it from a good or unique story. This show though with the actors being given good dialogue is just hands down amazing acting throughout. I’m going to be sad to leave the characters Tom and Greg behind that’s for sure.
Is this show going to get better? I found the first episode boring. Let me know if it's more of the same or gets more interesting.
First season? Or did you make it further? It's slow on parts but I enjoy it, I haven't seen New season yet, but going to binge it.
Five eps in is good enough. You either like the meanness and incisive dialogue or it's just not a show for you. I like Billions more for its pacing and cultural references, but Succession is the better written show at their respective peaks. Succession seems darker to me because of its on the nose references to real life that also highlights its unpredictability.
Great season but Greg's character is at an all-time low. They're forcing it with him now. Minor issue though.
Im generally confused on what exactly is going on and I should read more recaps because I’m a dummy. But the writing and acting is so ****ing top notch that it doesn’t even matter.
It's a shame you don't grasp it, BECAUSE, if you did, you'd realize how dumb the siblings are when it comes to business - they don't know anything outside of buzzwords Especially Ken "crazy high margins with the ethos of a nonprofit" - lulz, okay, great. Roman kinda knows stuff but doesn't know he knows. Lulz.
I LOVED it. Despite EVERYTHING they've been through - no sustained character development. They just revert back into their useless, sad, rich-daddy selves. Worthless people (with billions). But also funny being worthless. And the weasels still have a lifeline? And at any cost (go ahead cuck me and king me). And that lil funeral sticker on Greg's head. Love it.
What would have been your preferred ending? It was clear none of the kids were ever qualified… and while sentiment went to Kendall because it was “promised” to him, his entire track record (from the very first episode on) says he would have been a disaster. In the end, Geri was likely the best person to handle things going forward… and she likely gets to do that, without having to be the patsy/front man getting all the heat. I was semi-curious if the sibs still had to pay $10 billion for the Pierce network… I thought they could have ended with that as a “oh ****, we forgot we wrote checks we couldn’t cash…”
