How long of a leash does Maldonado have? Play Salazar if Diaz isn't doing what he's supposed to or whatever reason Dusty gave.
Dusty isn’t going to stop playing Maldonado. It will take Brown to decide a change is necessary. When Diaz does things the way Dusty and the coaches want him to, he will start getting more playing time.
Prepare and practice and conduct himself the way Baker and the coaches want him to. He had issues in the minors, was told the effort in game planning and catching wasn’t what they wanted going back a couple years ago. Then a month or so ago was told Baker didn’t like the way he was doing some things - and would play more when he does what they expect of him. No I don’t know exactly what he is doing wrong so far. Behind the plate he has looked very strong and he worked with coaches and has his arm mechanics greatly improved. My speculation is it is his game planning, but I don’t know that for sure this year. I do know that he spends more time working with the hitting coach and other coaches than probably anyone else on the team.
Is there a reason Dusty won't use the bullpen? They didn't pitch much Wednesday and they had yesterday off.
The Astros have the highest (or near top) batting average in the 7th and later. They just need to get Nola out of the game,
It would be nice if Alvarez, Altuve, McCormick or Brantley were in the line up…. I love to root for Julks and the effort is nice but not sure he is long for the Astros
So he is working hard and performing well, but still rarely plays Makes perfect sense lol If he isn't doing what they want, send him to AAA and start Salazar, or trade for someone, or whatever. Prima Maldanado can't keep playing every day
