Wait are y’all taking that presser as some kind of knock on Sengun? lol Everyone knows you need rim protection next to Sengun. On the predraft analysis two years ago I already said we need to put a shot blocker next to Sengun. This is nothing new. Wemby would be ideal, but otherwise Brook Lopez or even Prizingis could work in FA. These don’t replace Sengun, they compliment him.
Ya I feel like the tweet also misconstrued what Ime was saying. He was saying we need more variety at the big spot. As in probably compliment Sengun with a 3 and D big.
With the udoka's perspective and coaching style, there are a lot of positives for alpi's growth as well + Tough love, straight forward approach Turks just love it. I think if they can bond well, coach can get to alpi and teach him greatly. + Developing players all around Alpi can benefit a lot from this approach. He is willing to play positive, selfless, hard working basketball and he is a good kid who can benefit a good coach. He can strengthen what he needs to. + Holding players accountable Alpi will be developing good habits and he would definitely enjoy less free runs to the perimeter by opposition guards. If there won't be any mistreatment or overlooking as he faced especially in his rookie year, we will be seeing a lot from alpi next year. He just needs to concentrate on his game and work hard.
We need shot blocking and rim protection, that’s obvious. Ideally that’s next to Sengun(someone who can block shots and also shoot). If not then a backup to Sengun(only block shots). If you get a rim protector who isnt a shooter but is overall a better player than Sengun then you can bench Sengun, but that’s a tough task.
''Contrasting pieces", "Alperen does somethings really well", "We'd like to have different type of bigs". He is pretty much trying to say that Garuba sucks donkey ass and we don't have any defensive 5 who can come off the bench and make impact.
I am primarily interested to see how he utilizes AlP on defense. Whether due to personnel or by design, Udoka seemed to prefer dual long, rangey bigs on the floor as often as possible for defense which is decidedly not AlP. It honestly wouldn’t shock me to see him run a lot of Bari and Destiny instead.
I don't think his route to being a great defender is being a rim protector. His path to being a great defender is being a great switchable defender
I do hope that the Sengun fans enjoy pretending to be Celtics fans next season as much as they enjoyed pretending to be Rockets fans this past season.
So, ummm.... does that mean they are showcasing him for a trade, or that they are committed to building around him. Over-analysis time lol btw, some Jalen fans going nuts under the tweet, because it came out at the same time as the unsubstantiated Jalen trade rumour...lol
Why do you hate Sengun? I just don't get it. He's easily one of the top 3 players on the roster. Why the hate? Are you even a rockets fan?
I don't hate Sengun at all, in fact, I was on board with him since day one. His fans are absolute cancer though, literally worse than Lin fans. I'd trade Sengun in a heartbeat just to get rid of his fanbase....but if it also landed Jaylen Brown? Who wouldn't be all over that?
Ahh so you let other peoples opinions bother you so much you'd trade the best passer on the team, best offensive rebounder, best low post player and a young man who is as naturally talented as anyone else on the team just to get rid of his fans? Thank goodness you aren't in the front office. Hope you can stomach it when the rockets build around Green, Sengun and Smith. Have fun cheering for Boston when Jaylen Brown re-signs there.
