What if Jaylen Brown wants to have his own team? We treated Harden very well in Houston, some may argue "too well".

We've clearly been a dumpster fire for the last several seasons but we still have picks, lots of young players, and quite a bit of cap space. I think the Rocket's have a pretty good narrative they can spin now, plus we have Udoka.

He will be 27 in the fall so he is on the right side of 30.

There's no rule that all of young players will turn out good. or that we will be able to pay all of the bolded. We clearly won't be able to pay all the rookies from our 3 losing seasons.

^ this. While Brown is looking around, the field is large, and I'm dubious of Brown's actual level of interest in HOU.

You want to see the receipts of me clownign the mobelords a year ago, if I show them to you, will you issue an OFFICIAL APOLOGY, using the font of my choice? This is all very serious business.

Even neutral non-Rocket discussions thinks this is a joke and is absurd for the Rockets to consider.

No one on the team is untouchable. If Brown agreed to an extension with us then it's a trade worth exploring, although I would much prefer to get him via free agency rather than trade. Acquiring him would put us more in a win now mode, but he's only 26 and would still be in his prime in the time it would take for our prospects to develop.

Also the word "addressed" is pulling a lot of weight here lol.

It could of been a team inquiring and Stone responding with "let me think about it... Lol no"

It is possible that he wants his own team, but until he is a free agent - Boston can keep him or deal him. The Celtics will want pieces that will help them win now- and that isn't really what the Rockets have. So it would have to be a three or four team deal, which is possible but hard to execute for a variety of reasons.

Also there is no proof that Brown is even serious about leaving the Celtics.

He would be taking at least one step down from a competitive standpoint going to Houston - likely two or three. It is possible but not likely. Also, as far as I know he still lives in Southern California, and that would likely be more appealing than Houston.

He is, but he is a good 5-6 years older than the Rockets core. Their primes don't really match up.

No one thinks all younger players turn out good, there is always a risk but it all comes down to likely outcome.

The Rockets will likely be able to keep their core in tact from a financial standpoint if they choose to. The reality is that not all of those guys will pan out, fit or be worthy of the max.

There are a lot of variables - and anything is possible, odd trades have happened before - but the likelihood of the Rockets trading FOR Jaylen Brown is fairly remote, especially for the amount of attention the headline has garnered.

I'm not surprised at which members here are bragging that they were 'right'...

... using such a clickbait, misleading article to defend their takes.

He will be 27 at the start of next season. So 3 years of tanking for 3 years of Brown at 27-30 and Harden at 34-37 and no cap space. Harden started to decline after 30 and he's clearly slowed down drastically physically which declines both his scoring nad his already non existent defense. So you're getting a worse shooting mid 30's Nash with a lot more weight on his old bones and Brown at 30 might be his last season where he plays like he is this season(he's likely a finished product. A nice 2 way All Star).

Stop the presses! Rox may be willing to include an underwhelming young player to get a star?! Shocker!

More interesting tidbit is that Nurse was never considered. I am thinking he probably is gonna take his time, and the Rockets needed to make a move right away. Nurse is the only one I thought may be better than Udoka, but if he was not really motivated, I am fine with this Udoka dude...
It only makes sense if Jaylen is telling them he won’t re-up, and wants to get reunited with Udoka and thinks he can be the Man in H-town. And that only makes sense if he’s not All-NBA and eligible for meda-extension.

I said 6 months ago that I wouldn't be shocked if Jalen's name pops up this Summer as a trade target in a package for a star player just because.... educated guess....

.... Which is exactly what I'm sure Jack Fischer is doing here too. Of course Jalen will be discussed internally in regards to a star package just as Wiggins was the obvious piece to be discussed for Kevin Love back in the day, Harrison Barnes for Durant, etc. etc. Jalen is just an obvious "Young talent you can sell to your fanbase as a future star if you have to trade you proven star" type of player.

Nothing should be shocking about this rumor, and I'm sure it is JUST a rumor because it's too early to tell which stars will come available out of the Luka, Giannis, Embiid, etc. big names. Right now nobody in that situation is ready to push their team to get out. When that happens... and odds are one of these three will be available in the next 2 years, a name like Jalen Green will HAVE TO be included in any trade package.... or if we get Wemby or Scoot I would suspect their names will be floated as well.

When a team like Houston turns this corner of being a buyer of multiple star players, it'll put Jalen, our #1 pick, Sengun, etc. all in the mix. Better get used to it folks, and not get attached to ANYONE.
