That would be the adult thing to do.
The petty thing to do is troll him til he leaves these boards.
    He’s not a Houstonian

I have refrained from adding up JUST HOW BADLY we overpaid (in draft value) to get the #3 pick because I KNEW it would just anger me more.

But if what you're saying is true and we overpaid by MORE than the value of a #1 overall pick in the draft (+ 3rd rndr) then THAT HAS TO BE AN INSTANTLY FIREABLE OFFENSE!
And then Nick gets up and says that he's not worried about draft value given up! grrrrrr!!!

But I'm thinking that you didn't figure any depreciation for being next years pick.
Doesn't really matter much though if it's THAT AGGREGIOUS!

Undoubtedly, DeMeco felt Anderson was the best defensive player in the draft. When it comes to defense, I trust he knows what he is doing.

Even if they're not better than the Browns... let's say the Browns finish roughly 9-8 with like the 18th pick or something in that range. The 18th pick, combined with the insane amount of cap space they have, is plenty to continue reworking the roster into a legit playoff caliber team.

My toxic trait is always looking at worst possible outcomes, planning contingencies and then enjoying the cautiously optimistic outlook. I look at what ARZ gave up to move right back up compared to what we did and its quite a bit more on our end. I would have given the Browns pick instead, but if ARZ was playing hardball and mandated the package what can you do? To add the extra 2nd round pick on top of OUR 1st rounder next year was excessive IMO.

If both of these guys turn into all pro's then all is moot sure looking at it with a cup half full lens. What are those odds?

That would be the logical thing to have occurred. Hopefully these kids make Nick and DeMeco look brilliant.

Why wouldn't anyone think we overpaid for the pick? Have to leave your thoughts about who we picked out of the equation.
We gave up way less than the panthers and moved up more spots.

I'd say if CJ reaches his potential and becomes a top 10 QB, then the picks we gave up for #3 won't even matter to me.

What will break my heart is if Houston finds itself near the top of the draft next year with a chance to land Marvin Harrison Jr and ARZ reaps the reward. Sorry I couldnt help it!

You are looking at a 2-3 year rebuild process and that's IF Ryans gets the authority he needs to implement his vision here. Given enough time, he could be the guy who (finally) breaks the cycle of irrelevance that describes Houston professional football. After the events of the past 4 years let's just say that I have zero trust in Caserio and Cal to do this because I've seen just how little they value black coaches. Only time will tell.

My only question about Anderson is that he's better suited to play in a 3-4 defense while DeMeco employs a 4-3 defense which will require him to play with his hand on the ground rather than standing. My guess is that DeMeco would like to use him in much the same way the Cows use Micah Parsons where he could really be a disrupter on defense.

The issue with the trade - and the reason it cost so much - is because Arizona was almost certainly, happily going to draft Will Anderson at 3. So you have to incentivize them to not only trade but pass on what was essentially the consensus best (certainly non-QB) prospect in the draft who had fallen into their laps at 3 + move out of the top 10 in a draft most thought only had ~10 elite prospects.

So Arizona held all the leverage. Again, that's not me defending the choice or package - it's just setting the reality. Indianapolis pays significantly less to move up to 3 (if Houston drafts Anderson, instead) because Arizona still gets their guy, etc.
