If we do end up drafting Stroud at 2 it’s for sure a Cal and Hannah pick If we try to trade back up for Anderson but miss out on him then draft JSN Only way I want Stroud is if his teammate comes with him to Houston or Anderson comes with Stroud as well. If its Stroud and somebody else first round was a major let down
People look at drafts so weird. "Don't move up because value! Trade back because value! Don't draft that guy when someone else at his position is available three picks later!" Look, these aren't just random names, they're actual players. Some of them will be good, most of them won't. Your GM, coach and scouting department need to be able to identify the ones who will be. If they are sold on player X and he's not going to be there for you, then by all means trade up. Getting the right value isn't the goal, it's getting the right player. If the Texans trade up for a QB and he sucks they should be roasted for that. But if they don't trade up and take whoever falls to them at 12 or 33 or whatever and that guy sucks and they could have traded up, "poor value" isn't a good excuse.
Now this I could get behind, especially if we're talking about moving from 12 to 10 to get a sliding Carter or something like that. The gap in compensation there is very palatable. Moving a ton of assets to move back up to 3 feels like that fantasy manager who can't pick and gives up a ton to slide back up into the same round and then finds out one or both of his "must haves" didn't pan out.
Coach wants defense Owner wants qb to shut fans up and sell jerseys. Team will suck and draft top 3 next year
If you do go QB at 2 and take Will Levis then you would almost have to draft Van Ness at 12 and hope that Atlanta or Philly don't take him first.
No way a QB is there at 12 unless its Hooker and then you are reaching hard for him. Has to be a QB at 2 I feel as it will just be easier to trade up for Anderson, Wilson, or Carter.
Problem then is, Anderson might be their guy and they could drive a hard bargain. Take Stroud and best defense guy at #12. The difference in talent between Nolan Smith, Lukas Van Ness and Myles Murphy is not great enough to justify such an expensive move up for Anderson. I'd take that too!
