Was moving the resettled Germans out of occupied lands post WWII "ethnic cleansing"? Yes, but no. And, you're right, it's absolutely not our call.
The Russians are panicking about the upcoming counterattack. I'm following Russian War mappers on telegram and its all everyone's talking about. They're expecting a massive massive ukr counterattack. They think American tanks are already in play. This next UKR counter offensive will make or break the war. If UKR fails then I see a cease fire happening this fall. If they breakthrough then they can get all land back post Feb 22. Crimea is off the table and is being used as leveraged.
Zelenskyy and Xi Jinping spoke on the phone today in what were called meaningful talks. Not expecting much out of this but it’s a glimmer of hope that the PRC will back off of its rhetoric regarding former Soviet states and fully supporting Russia.
What "prevarication" would that be? Did Sam do a part-time gig working for the Russian Federation military High Command, or are you just high?
I feel like this will end up with Ukraine demiliterizing and China stepping in to help rebuild. If China starts providing rebuilding efforts, Russia can not risk coming back and destroying Chinese efforts. At the beginning, the US reassured the entire world it was ready to carry this on for a decade. Ukraine nor Russia have the means for this. The question remains; will the west accept peace and an end to the war if they are not allowed to partake in the peace talks. If this comes to pass, this is bad news for Taiwan.
I highly doubt Ukraine would demilitarize for the PRC. Especially given recent PRC officials comments that former Soviet States aren’t really countries.
China is a friend to Russia and have not condemned the war - I seriously doubt Ukraine will want China as a broker to rebuild Ukraine but rather is more interested in pushing the Chinese to put pressure on Russia. Very unlikely. I am not sure why you feel the West wants this to go on for 10 years or won't accept peace. It's not up to the west after all, but rather Ukraine.
Since the West isn't fighting the war, I'm not sure how we could refuse to accept a peace we didn't like. We'd have to commit our own troops to the fight. But, if China did commit to rebuilding and defending Ukraine (fat chance), Ukraine might be better off with that arrangement. If Xi isn't still running the show in 10 years, it'd still be someone likeminded. Meanwhile, commitments from the Americans are rarely sure things. Everything President Joe Biden promises can get taken away or sabotaged by President Tucker Carlson later. It's still a pipe dream, though, to think Ukraine and China have any fertile ground for a deal.
I really dont know neither do you. Speaking of propaganda - If I went by this sites mood, I would be convinced America is 95% rational intelligent Democrat and 5% ultra right wing nut jobs persecuting the other 95%. If I went by the media, I would be convinced 50% of Americans are rational intelligent Democrats and 50% bat **** crazy right wingers. My anecdotal experience suggests most Americans are moderate and tolerant and generally admit they do not know everything unlike the self proclaim righteous voices found on both sides of the isle.
Yes but they've depleted most of their precision guided missles and t90 tanks that they needed. Of course they're "bigger" after a mass mobilization but they aren't "stronger." Without Russia being able to import outside tech they're slowly bleeding out. They have no way to replace their good stuff.
What a fantasy. China has several countries, countries that were once subjugated by the USSR, who are furious about the bizarre statements about their viability as independent nations. It’s not “just about Ukraine.” What is really strange is that these statements were made and apply to countries that have been wooed by Beijing’s “Belt and Road” economic initiative. A deliberate copy by Xi of the economic grouping the United States worked for years to bring together, only to have trump stupidly toss into a dumpster once he took office, opening the door for China to have some success with their copycat version. If you think Ukraine would trust an ally of Russia, not to mention Russia and Putin, to “guarantee” a treaty to end this invasion by Russia of Ukraine on terms Ukraine would even consider acceptable without NATO’s signature on the dotted line, highly unlikely as it would have to be unanimous and include Ukraine becoming a member of NATO, I’m sure there are several members here with bridges they’d love to sell you.
For whatever reason, many conservatives seem ignorant on Historical Russia/USSR/ Modern Russia’s policy of empire building.
