and yes I’ve said that such actions that harass and attack other people should be punished.

Except you and others are basically doing the same things you’re downplaying the violence towards trans which you admit are a marginalized group. Yet from much of this and other threads the argument is out forward that trans are the ones oppressing everyone else. You guys are cherry picking and blowing up incidences where trans and their supporter have behaved badly as though this is some massive threat on society. You’re doing in the post above. Rather than addressing violence that you acknowledge is happening you’re downplaying it by pointing out bad behavior by a trans person.

Frankly I don’t think many here want to have a discussion of what’s in between. I think this thread and others show that this issue is princely being driven for ideology and partisan reasons.

I’ve stated several nuanced positions such as that rather than have laws determining who can compete leave it up to leagues to decide. That yes if people don’t like their children being around LGTBQ they can and should go to private schools and or home school rather than change public shools. You can see how successful or accepted those positions are.

most of the threads are instead filled with alarmist tweets about “groomers”, “swinging dicks” and “chopping balls”

Why are you confabulating when I literally posted it in there? You’re flat out lying at this point which is quite disappointing

I can find numerous posts of you condoning the harassment of women in these scenarios but you’ll be hard pressed to find any supporting your claims. For example: “downplaying it by reporting instances of harassment against women and other groups”

you quite literally acknowledged to believing these issues are mutually exclusive (crazy) and that the wishes of these women are irrelevant because in your mind, in some fukked up way it downplays violence —-which everybody agrees is wrong?m btw???

that’s some serious effed up thinking, y’all need help and a lesson on ethics first and foremost

there’s a very practical scenario being postulated that involves not being naked next to non consenting individuals and may a big boo boo in terms of sports and you guys are creating an apocalypse further marginalizing other groups. I hope this virtue signaling is worth feeling that way.

this is classic manipulation and gaslighting. It’s alarming to see some good posters even employ them

I am starting to understand why I am transphobic. It’s because it irritates me to see men dressing as women and trying to pass as women. I, like most other people, are fundamentally sexually attracted to the opposite gender’s (or some spectrum to same gender for the LGB crew) genitalia. These men are still men to me no matter what they do to themselves. Same for women who transition the other way.

I heuristically know what a man and what a woman look like. So when someone messes with that framework by purposely concealing their sex to make the public thing they’re the other sex it ends up coming over to me as a deception.

Like, I experience visceral disgust when I see pictures like of the Montana lawmaker who was banned from the floor for being transgender.

Same when I think about the whole Bud Light controversy with Dylan Mulvaney: I can’t not just see a man pretending to be a woman and this is at some level just mockery of women.

Ultimately, calling a person by different pronouns than their sex causes me cognitive dissonance.

Like it’s not the makeup or the dress that bothers me as much as it’s the belief that those things are core to being a woman and that they should be called women because of their gender dysphoria. Cross-dressing, drag, etc are not the same thing.

    Late 2022...

Republicans block cap on insulin costs for many Americans from Democratic deal

Republican senators on Sunday voted down a cap on the price of insulin in the private market, removing it from Democrats’ sweeping climate and economic package.

Democrats had tried to preserve the provision to cap insulin costs at $35 for private insurers, but that vote failed 57-43, with seven Republicans voting with them to keep the insulin cost cap in the bill, three short of what was needed.

The move was expected following a decision by the Senate parliamentarian, who determined earlier that the insulin provision was not compliant with the chamber’s strict budget rules. Democrats need to comply with those rules to advance the legislation, called the Inflation Reduction Act, without any Republican votes.

The legislation, however, still includes a $35 copay cap on the price of insulin for seniors on Medicare.

Following the vote, Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden, D-Ore., accused Republicans of caving to pressures from the pharmaceutical industry at the expense of citizens.

“Republicans have just gone on the record in favor of expensive insulin,” Wyden said in a statement. “After years of tough talk about taking on insulin makers, Republicans have once against wilted in the face of heat from Big Pharma.”

“Fortunately, the $35 insulin copay cap for insulin in Medicare remains in the bill, so seniors will get relief from high insulin costs. I will continue working to deliver lower insulin costs to all Americans,” he added.

Republican Sens. Bill Cassidy and John Kennedy of Louisiana; Susan Collins of Maine; Josh Hawley of Missouri; Cindy Hyde-Smith of Mississippi; and Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan of Alaska joined Democrats in voting to keep the insulin cap for private insurers on Sunday.

Senators have been working through the weekend on amendment votes after the chamber advanced the bill Saturday in a 51-50 procedural vote, with all Republicans opposing the motion to proceed with the bill and Vice President Kamala Harris casting the tie-breaking vote.

Senate Democrats are aiming to pass the legislation on Sunday, bringing long-stalled elements of President Joe Biden’s agenda, including major spending to combat climate change and extend health care coverage, one step closer to reality. The package will then head to the House, which is currently planning to pass it on Friday.

Culture war vs insulin for all in need, what would you choose? It's not like death or anything is on the table for the other side...

Where have I condoned harassment of women?

You’re accusing me of lying yet you’re making that accusation.

Also I will again point out that not all women’s views are monolithic. As I’ve cited several times there are women who support trans including allowing them to compete. That you and others continue to argue as though you’re speaking for all women shows the inauthenticity of this position.

    Your argument is bullshit.

I'm sure you can find some women who support getting beaten up by their husbands. WTF does that change.

That’s your own personal preference and if that makes your uncomfortable then that is up to you.

There are many things that make me personally uncomfortable. I will admit when I see black kids with their pants hanging halfway done their butts it makes me uncomfortable. When I see bikers with a bunch of tattoos that makes me uncomfortable. That said those people should still be treated as anyone else would like to be treated. A few years ago I came upon an accident on the highway involving a biker. As I have some emergency medical training and was one of the first on the scene I still helped to treat the injured biker even though I recognized some of the patches they had were White Power symbols.

We all have our personal biases but this is about society and call me a Wokey Woke, but a TOLERANT society. So while yes I don’t find trans females particular attractive that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be afforded the same respect as everyone else.

Most importantly they shouldn’t be singled out politically and targeted.

So yes women that don’t share your opinion are the same as women who support getting beaten by their husbands.

And my argument is bullshit. Really..

    Correct.

    Be better.

Just because you have no success with women doesn't mean you should support them being deprived of opportunity by other biological men who do not have success with women (and therefore pretend they are one).

They deserve neither righteous celebration (like how ESPN made Caitlyn Jenner woman of the year) nor pathological condemnation (this and half the other threads in the D&D).

The medical establishment also needs to re-evaluate its stances on “gender affirming care”. Just because we can does not mean we should. Surgery and hormones should not be first line therapies for gender dysphoria.

They disgust me. They don't give a damn about people, other than those making billions off their sickness. It's inhumane to put profit over people, but Republicans do it over and over and over.
The party of greed, guns, lies, hate, sedition, conspiracy and propaganda amazes me how it stays alive.

In 2017, hundreds of thousands of women gathered in major cities around the world protesting against Donald Trump's election to the presidency. Their concern was that Trump's misogyny would "take away their voices as women".

    Why aren't they protesting now?

As men-who-think-they're-women are infringing on institutions that have historically been specific for women, why aren't women assembling by the thousands again as their "voice" is truly being taken from them?

For me it has nothing to do with sexual attraction.

Sexual attraction is all over the map - and some of out sexual attraction is cultural as well.

Also there is a distinct difference between FEMALE and FEMININE.

So, if a MALE wants to dress what culture and the patriarchy views as FEMININE, then that is their choice and I don't have an issue with it. I feel that is not something that is biological or scientifically not accurate.

I don't even have an issue with an adult having surgery to transition.

The issue I have is when trans-women only want to be called women or in some cases even female. They are not objectively FEMALE and they will never have the experiences of what makes one a woman from a physical standpoint and from the standpoint of culture and the entitlement of the patriarchy.

So, since these people born male have no idea what it means or is like to be a woman - they often end up confusing either stereotypes or the patriarchies idea of feminism and believe THAT is what it means to be female or a woman.

That is incredibly disrespectful to women/females - the largest marginalized group in the world..... the actual patriarchy is co-opting the culture and essence of being a female - AND feels completely justified in doing it BECAUSE they were born MALE and raised male in a patriarchy. It is amazingly wrong and the level of entitlement is INCREDIBLE. It is basically what Robert Downey Jr. did in Tropic Thunder. He did not know what it was like to be black or oppressed as a black person, so he played a flat stereotype of what he believed being black meant in a movie.......

To be clear, transgenderism is real and those that are transgendered should be protected by the law, free of discrimination and be free to dress and live as they want. However - that does not make them FEMALE and that does not make them the same as cis women. The biology and shared experiences will never be the same.

    The issue isn't that simple.

First not all transgendered women are claiming that they are the same as biological women/females. I know transgendered women that will identify as transgendered women and not females and are not claiming they are the same as biological women. Most females do not really have an issue with this, and are supportive of transwomen.

Second, there are some women that do not believe that transwomen are NOT women.... women tend to be more inclusive than men.

Third, a lot of females did not say much - because women in the patriarchy have not been raised to believe their opinion matters as much as males do in the patriarchy......... females often also do not want to be labeled as bigots.

Fourth, there ARE a lot of women that have voiced their opposition to limits some transgendered people want -

Fifth - just because biological women do NOT want their culture co-opted, and do not like the cartoonish behaviors of some transgendered women - it doesn't mean they agree with the absolute bigoted bullshit that the more outspoken Republicans have pushed and they believe in basic human rights.... lets not forget, women are also well aware of how conservatives and supporters of the patriarchy have treated them, from abortion, to gun reform - etc.

Utah governor vetoes transgender sports ban, faces override - CBS News

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox vetoed a ban on transgender students playing girls' sports on Tuesday, becoming the second Republican governor this week to overrule state lawmakers taking on youth sports amid broader culture wars as LGBTQ visibility grows.

"I struggle to understand so much of it and the science is conflicting. When in doubt however, I always try to err on the side of kindness, mercy and compassion," Cox wrote in a letter to Utah legislative leaders.

"Four kids who are just trying to find some friends and feel like they are a part of something. Four kids trying to get through each day," Cox said in the letter explaining his veto, in which he cited suicide rates for transgender youth. "Rarely has so much fear and anger been directed at so few. I don't understand what they are going through or why they feel the way they do. But I want them to live."
