I never thought of that before. How about clippers pick, nets assets (those swaps would be more valuable for the Celtics likely) KPJ, Eason for Brown

    Scoot Henderson/ TyTy
    Green/ Christopher
Brown/Cam Johnson (brown plays SG some when green sits)
    Jabari/Garuba
    Claxton/Brook Lopez

Backcourt is talented but still super young though.

It is pretty clear: Udoka knows that Jalen Green is a major problem. Green is the shooting guard on the team and Ime wants to address shooting on the FA market. Are you guys blind or something?

I thought the backcourt was positionless ie. combo guards?

I thought the nba as a whole is a 3pt ''shooting'' happy league?

Aren't the said modern stretch 4/5 spots ''shooters'' from distance more than ever now?

I mean its pretty clear if you watch actual NBA games

But maybe you are on to something and Udoka is only talking about Green, that could be the reason why he didn't show up to Udoka intro conference

Maybe Green is talking about making playoffs next season under the guise of a new team he is about to be traded to

A major problem was the team fielding a NCAA aged type squad in the big leagues with no actual structure with the plan of actually tanking

Where teams are making games look like a 3pt contest I would think you need a slew of ''shooters'', rather they start or come off bench.....or maybe he was talking about shooting layups......but I don't know much, just a fly on wall 2 cents

Man I took it the exact opposite way. That he mentioned Sengun does some things really well is important. He mentioned how important it is - from his experience with the Celtics - for players and the team to get their assist numbers up so that individual skills can benefit the team.

It sounds like you guys are going to be shocked. Sengun's coaches in Turkey were ruthless and he loved it. He's going to take on this challenge and be one of those soldier type of players for his coach, being a coach on the floor, doing everything he possibly can to improve his defense.

I'm not worried even if they bring someone in. If they're GREAT and they beat Sengun out, cool. However me personally I'm certain we're not going to get a better big than what Sengun is going to be a few months into next season. He'll beat out anyone who's not already elite. We've seen it already with the overemphasis on vertical threat and defense, but Sengun always comes out on top. That's been the story of his career from the junior levels of the 4th best basketball league in the world, to being an 18 year old winning MVP in that league to joining the Rockets and smashing expectations.

Some guys are just winners wherever they go, Sengun is one of them. He's going to drink everything Udoka teaches him.

If Sengun doesn't fit, then Sengun is gone. That is all there is to it. We're in a rebuild! Do not get attached to anyone on the Roster.

I was being sarcastic. This thread is based on overinterpretation of Ime's quote to slam Sengun, so I did the same with a slant against Green.
This is a very bad team, full of "major problems", Sengun's defense is only one of them. All our players are work in progress, every one of them has deficiencies. If Ime's true to his reputation he will play the guys who are aggressive, play with effort and help the team win, while at the same time working on their weaknesses.

I think the next season could set the tone for the careers of most of our young players. After years of playing for an offensive minded coach that gave a lot of freedom to his players, they now get a defensive minded coach, that doesn‘t want to hear excuses and that won‘t accept his players going after their own agenda.

I am really happy for Green - he seems to have the passion and work ethic, but he severly lacks structure and guidance. If he buys in to Udoka and works hard to improve his defense and decision making he can make that important step to becoming a star.

For Sengun, he needs to improve his defense. I believe he can. He has good footwork and when he is in position he can protect the basket.

It will also be really interesting for KPJ - can he control his ego and play smarter? What about KMJ? Tari and Bari still haven‘t been in the league long, but both of them need to get their fundamentals right on offense and make better decisions. Udoka will tell them, what they need to do and he will tell them, when they screw up.

It is a moment (or a season) of truth for them. They will get the help and structure to improve their weaknesses - the question is, will they be able to keep their egos in check, buy in and handle the tough criticism.

The difference is KPJ has the tools to play both sides of the ball. His main thing is focus. Sengun will NEVER be a good defender. His footspeed just isn't where it should be. KPJ has shown he can play defense

Which is probably why Udoka called KPJ and Green "the backcourt" and went on about the need to bring in big men that could do what he was looking for since Sengun can't and likely won't ever be able to despite what good things he can actually do.

If we're peddling Sengun-- or, heck, even if we're not-- I hope there's some way we can reunite Walker Kessler with Jabari Smith. Throw that block party, bebe.

Kessler would be a great fit with both of those guys. I wonder if there's any way they'd consider KJ Martin + the Clippers pick for him, or something along those lines. Probably not after what he showed this season, but you never know

I will put it like this. I didn't believe in the evaluations of Stone+Silas. But if Udoka thinks someone is fools gold, I believe him. And if he thinks someone is excellent, I believe him. He is of immigrant descent himself and worked several years for the Spurs. Proven results in Boston in a similar situation. There will be no favoritism here

The Spurs maxim was never to abandon role players unless they totally do not fit their system.

That is how they recycled and made tons of good role players.

So I guess he would give KPJ half a season or a full season.

Excellent post!! The Sengun haters will either learn to love him or be miserable because he is not going anywhere. He is going to fit in perfectly with Ime's style.

People should be much more curious how the "Head Honcho" will fair under a tough coach although I will say showing up for the press conference was a good first step for him and I hope he has matured to the point where he does well under the new circumstances.

Yeah on the face of it, the situation looks good for everyone. But some people take well to tough coaching and others don't, and we're going to find out who those people are. Look at the roster, who do you think those guys are?

I've seen Udoka bench talented players who don't try. I haven't seen him benching hard workers with less talent as long as they take the right shots and give 100% effort on defense.

I have no doubt KPJ will have exactly 2 amazing months. The honeymoon period helps a lot. What I'm wondering is how he will respond when the coach benches him, tells him why and then goes and tells the media why. We handled him with kid gloves (which I said all along was a bad idea) and this is going to be a BIG change for KPJ. More than anyone, his life is going to change. I'm rooting for him to make me eat crow.

Sengun has had old school Turkish coaches, he's so down for it. He has been yelled at and cussed at and went back to work winning trophies along the way. International players are generally fine with tough coaching, many of them thrive on it. If anything Sengun was far less suited to being coached by Mr Nice Guy than most of the players on the team, he seemed confused by it at times.
