Sengun is kind of a player that you forget how efficient, useful he is until you watch him on the court. That's why i think he turns into some 6'7 useless midget in the off-seasons and "Maybe we should build around him?" in regular seasons.

    He isn't viable defensively.

Its either you build the team around him, which would require a completely different cast of characters... or he doesn't fit, other than like an offensive spark off the bench.

Probably our best trade asset, should look cash in.

Ime was echoing Stone. He hasn't worked with Sengun yet.

And Stone was possibly echoing KPJ.

Anyone who is looking at it unemotionally should see it just that way.

Udoka is a straight shooter and isn’t going to “fawn” over anyone just for show. He was asked what they were looking for in free agency and anyone with half a brain could have told you this team needs rim protection. You do need a couple of extra brain cells to realize that could mean alongside Sengun instead of replacing him though. Notice Udoka didn’t say “center”, he said “bigs” which includes shot blocking stretch 4s. Prizingis is a name that comes to mind. Which FA centers are there that would replace Sengun?

Coach mentioning shooting being a premium and it being something to look for in free agency is fine, but honestly would highly prefer if some of the guys we have now could learn to shoot and be more efficient, curious how the roster gets consolidated, or he meant guys that are shooters as specialists off the bench..

You don’t need to build the team around him, you just need a mobile four that can protect the rim. Wemby would be perfect.

I don't think he's saying anything here that wasn't obvious to anyone who watches the games. Even if you're high on Sengun you still want a rim-protecting backup center to give you flexibility with lineups. We just don't have anybody on the team who fits that archetype at all, and contenders usually have at least one of those guys. Maybe Sengun plays the 4 sometimes, maybe he gets 30-32 minutes a game instead of 36. It doesn't mean Udoka is saying "Sengun gotta go".

I got a feeling people are gonna hate Ime at the start of the season because their favorite player will be held accountable.

I too wish some of our current guys could learn to shoot. But right off the bat I think Tate, KJ and Christopher should be good candidates to get moved. None of those guys can shoot. At least Tate plays D, but just think there are much better options out there at the 3 and 2 spots.

He also said we need shooters.

By the same logic of the OP, does that mean he wants to get rid of our shooting guards?

When Fertitta said that Stone did a good job drafting players, but he hasn't been perfect was he referring to Sengun?

Yeah, number 1 takeaway was that kj is 100% out as the starter. Didn’t mention him one time and biggest priority in free agency is shooting on the wing aka Cam Johnson. Only in a passing remark he mentions adding some different bigs too, likely backups otherwise he would have emphasized it more, and of course the morons on Clutchfans hyperventilate over that instead. Too much reading into what they want to hear.

Where in the quote did he mention his defense, much less “a major problem”?

He's pointing out the things he values from big men, things Sengun will never be able to do. That suggests if they get a guy who can do those things, he'll start over Sengun.

If you're looking to make trades, that makes Sengun expendable.

Thanks for this, and that makes sense regarding Sengun. I am optimistic w Ime already, because he seems to already be voicing his opinions on roster make up, I don't recall Silas really saying much on this, it may be something that was negotiated with the rest of the front office when Ime signed. I did see KPJ there, wondering if he was the only player in attendance, would feel bad if he got moved, seems like hes doing what he can to build a relationship with Ime already, a lot of other guys are on vacation. He may or may not be a fit long term, but I get the sense he is putting in effort in off season.

"Sengun does somethimg well but we need different type of bigs"

It means Sengun does his job but not the other bigs. Jabari's Houston days numbered.

Do tell, who is that guy? The FA list isn’t that long.
