You definitely didn't watch the Rockets Warriors WCF. Switching on on ball screens and having discipline in chasing down off ball players utilizing off ball screens forced Golden State to get out of their comfort zone and iso heavily. Hence why scoring was so down in that series for two teams that were considered elite offensive teams.

That’s not what you said earlier. You specifically said teams switch and clamp down on offball screens which don’t make no sense. Not sure what you’re arguing about. Warriors were not iso dominant in that series lol.

Yes they were. Don't confuse starting off with a off ball action in a half court set as "not playing iso ball". What happened a lot that series was the initial actions by the Warroors try to get guys like Curry free in off ball screens but with great disciplined wing defenders in guys like Ariza and Tucker, they made it extremely difficult for guys like Curry and Thompson to break free from screens which then in the second or third action of the half court set they report to an iso attempt as the shot clock goes down.

Yes the Warriors tried with initial actions in half court sets but the Rockets **** that crap down forcing isos. Do you remember how low scoring that series was?

Not sure what you’re arguing back and forth with me for when all I said was my concern for an iso heavy offense. Yeah plays break down all the time and players gotta make plays when screens don’t work but you said it yourself that Warriors still played their game and they still set offball screens especially their famous flares. I remember Thompson killing us coming off flares or pindowns. Now you’re taking about second or third actions? I am talking about how a team plays in their initial sets and how they use offball screens in that set. The teams I mentioned still maintained their identities and play off ball screens but My point isn’t that iso is bad its the stagnancy that comes with it and the heavy reliance on it is a recipe for losing. Celtics went stagnant over relying on Brown and Tatum to generate that offense with people watching and it went stale.

I've said from the very beginning that NBA defenses in the playoffs try to shut down team's off ball actions and try to force them to go iso heavy. So yes, teams still try to run the actions they are used to during the regular season but those actions fail a lot more in the playoffs resulting in end of possession iso ball.

Yes, I believe they were number one or two in second pass assists.

    Ime stresses the extra pass.

Little know fact is you need:
    1) 3 to 4 facilitators to draw the extra defenders Ex: Tatum-J Brown-add Brogan
    2) 3-point shooters along the perimeter
    3) extra pass along the perimeter
    4) all closers whether they be facilitators or Catch-n-Shoot players.

And you can win in the NBA today
    _____________
    1) Harden-Green-KPj-(Jabari-Tari-Sengun) I have Sengun traded for upgrades;
    Others have KPj gone.
    2) I'm bringing in Harden, Torrey Craig, Cam Johnson to go with KPj-Green CnS 3P%.
    3) spacing created by facilitators open up 3's; 3-pt shooters open up driving lanes.
    One improves the other.
    4) everyone shares the ball and everyone prospers.
Warriors have been using that recipe for years and so have the Celtics recently.

Now do I think we will get all of Cam Johnson, Nic Claxton, Torrey Craig.....
probably not. But I would like a facsimile thereof.

So, I just watched the press conference and I'm glad they started by discussing the Celtics debacle heavily. I have to say....

I'm sold. I'm willing to give him another chance. It's a true clean slate as far as I'm concerned. From his face and body language, he did not seem to not care about what happened. He did seem to understand that the problem is only: look how many things you affected by doing things a certain way. He apologized to those people. He worked on himself, sounded like he got some therapy.

I love it man. I'm ready to root for this guy and get back to being as excited about his coaching future as I was before the Celtics thing. I've said several times now, I pushed for him as HC in 2015. I was so disappointed when he got hired by the Celtics and did great and even more disappointed when everything went down in Boston.

I'm aware that his emphasis on spacing is not as strong as I would like but I also think that no one is going to fit ALL my criteria and Stone can give him defensive bigs who can shoot with the cap space we have. He seems to be willing to tweak things after giving it a good try so I don't doubt that he's willing to tweak things in the interest of winning. Hiring an offensive coordinator can ease this problem a lot too. What I will say is that his strategy of two bigs may have cost him the Finals against the Warriors where they just couldn't compete using iso 2pters's vs the Warriors motion 3's. There's a lesson to learn there about how two bigs can limit your offense too much against some of the elite teams. Still, a minor point and these players have SOOOOO MUCH to work on that I don't need them to learn everything this year.

I know it may not be a big deal to others but for me it's a benefit that he's African American. There's a cultural aspect he will understand about these players' lives that is often lost on coaches who grew up in a (sometimes) totally different background than them. This saves a lot of time and creates a minor telepathic effect. It's unavoidable that most of the players in the NBA are African American so getting a good psychological and mental fit can function as a bonus for us. At the end of the day, anyone of any race can kick ass at any job of course, and any African American can just suck at communicating, but in this instance him being African American could really function as a good bonus for us if we're lucky. He also has international experience and doesn't seem too far removed from Nigerian roots and that will help with international players.

Overall I'm so damn excited. I really feel like even if we pick 4th in the upcoming draft, I wouldn't pick anyone's future over ours at this point in time. Everyone on this team and in this organization has a road to redemption here and I believe that energy will synchronize them and create unusually good chemistry.

I'm 100% won over by his interview.

    Let's GO Ime.
