Seems like from the press conference the Rockets did not get access to the Celtics report and are relying on the league's statement that they wouldn't block him from being hired as a huge part of their 'diligence' , per Tilman.

Stone wouldn't say what they actually reviewed or investigated

Real surprised they would just make a gamble and hope it doesn't blow up.

That’s my concern. Boston’s offense was unbearable to watch in that finals with Brown and Tatum taking it one on one and a stagnant spread or 5 out offense.

Do you not watch NBA playoff games more?

Almost every modern NBA team in the playoffs resorts to a lot more isos and "your turn my turn" because NBA defenses get a lot more serious and switch a lot more in the playoffs. Defenses clamp down on off ball movement and force teams to iso. So the teams that have the best offensive individual talent often get ahead.

Hell the Rockets made the least iso type team in the Warriors go iso heavy in the 2018 WCF because of the switching schemes.

To Udoka’s defense though they were 6th in offball screens in 21-22 despite that horrendous finals where it seemed like they iso’d every play. I have seen them run double pin downs and flares etc but not as much as I have seen them iso in the limited games I watched.

    .
That is the nature of playoffs basketball. Even the Warriors get iso heavy in the playoffs. Teams pretty much switch all the time on defense in the playoffs.

Exactly, Not only the playoffs but in regular season as well

Postseason is just an extension of what you carry over from the regular season, its just more things are put under microscope in the glorified hyped shortened post - Season

Even the glorified Spurs title era had Duncan and Parker/Ginobili/Leonard who were all at best doing their thing in iso

Condescending question. Are you arguing that most NBA teams play iso or that their offense is mainly iso. If you’re saying the latter then this isn’t true. And your claims of defenses clamping down on offball screens isn’t accurate or true. Do you understand the difference between on ball screen and off ball? Are you conflating the 2? And are you conflating high screen and rolls with iso’s? Teams switch on on ball screens. A high screen and roll
Is an on ball screen. Offball screens are usually designed to create space for shooters and driving lanes. Back screens, pin downs, up screens and flares are still used heavily by teams like Warriors who run a lot of flares and Kings who run a lot of screen curls. Even the Suns run a lot of back screen actions and pindowns with booker and their wings. Iso plays do not involve an on ball screen. Like when Jalen runs off the dribble handoff on the wing then takes it to the paint without a screen but on his own.

Not all teams are iso heavy. The Rockets have played this way with Dantoni and Silas and Boston played heavy iso in last year’s playoffs. My point is having a half court offense that uses a lot of off ball screens to free shooters and guys like Jalen to attack the paint.

let’s not act like Ime didn’t also have Marcus Smart at his PG…

when I think of Smart, great PG and orchestrator of an offense isn’t what comes to mind

Celtics pretty much had to do playmaking by committee which is why he pushed Tatum and Brown to expand their offensive games and develop their playmaking abilities

and there’s nothing inherently wrong with ISO’s if u have some off-ball movement and screening action/cutting going on in the background…not everyone needs to play like GS

constant isolations can be problematic when it’s a basic 1-4 flat every possession and players are just standing in 1 spot not doing anything

This isn’t true. There are teams that are iso heavy including the Clippers Knicks and Sixers etc but teams like the Kings Cavs and Warriors are not iso teams relying on high screen and rolls or off ball screens to free shooters or guys like Fox with curls. Not saying they don’t iso but to say these are iso heavy teams is simply inaccurate.
