I dont want to get in an endless and non productive debate about Stone. But I believe we have enough sources from the media and insiders to at least make it a debate. Just want it out there to make sure we all know there are some of us in disagreement about this.

Revisionist history is a thing in all topics, and that's fine, as fan of the Rockets if he ends up being a great GM Im going to be happy. But I expect at least a few more hits to start changing the story on him.

Matching your plan is not a standard for everyone.
And again, we have plenty of sources on the media, insiders et al to at least make it a debate.

People disagreeing with you has a different perspective that's all, no need to attack anyone for disagreeing on this.

All new GMs have misses and mistakes. At the same time, he has accumulated a lot of talent and assets for our incoming HC to utilize, especially with a dumbass owner.

So basically, you're sayng as Rockets fans we can not reasonably expect to have done better than we did?

Dude, you can Galaxy Brain yourself into being a Tilman believer all you want, but it's pretty clear to me that things didn't break optimally.

Like, here's an optimal perspective of things that could have broken for the Rockets:

Be the worst team in the league for 3 years straight, get the best or second best player in one of the 3 drafts.

The Rockets clearly have not yet done that in 21 or 22 (blah, blah, only 19-20-21, sure whatever, duly noted) They have a 30% chance of doing it in 23. After that, it's a long long wait till we have that chance again due to the Westbrook trade.

Some of that is just bad luck, having bad drafts, the draft is very random. Who knew Jalen Williams was the second best player in the 22 draft? Nobody, not even OKC who drafted him. It's just the way drafts go.

Have Brooklyn totally implode - hasn't happened yet, they appear to still be better than the Rockets (which was a critical component of all the pick swaps, basically half the value of the trade.

Have one of their "reload" guys (Oladipo, Jarret Allen, Daniel Theis) work out.

    Obviously not.

Not become a total laughingstock/dumpster fire on/off the court

Didn't really work out either; Unfortunately, the NBA takesters have either ignored or savaged us for 3 years

Anyway, laugh at John Collins all you want, but for god's sake, I know what Rockets team I saw for the last 3 years and John Collins is way better of an NBA player than whatever the Rockets were running out most nights. I apologize for suggestign it's not absurd to enterain the idea of improving the team through acquring better players, somethign hat has made lots of people very upset.

I understand why these thngs overall get people upset to think about, we're all Rockets fans at the end of the day, but it's ok to have a glass half empty perspective too.

You want to just mainline sunshine after 3 absolutely miserable years of the worst Rockets era I can remember you can, just be ok with the fact that not everyone is going to cope with it in the same way.

LOL, you've been trotting out this line repeatedly like you're a 97 year old grizzled veteran of the Rebuild Wars in the Outer Rim territories.

Most "full rebuilds" dont' take 15 years like the Kings - in fact most take 5 or less, last time I checked.

Basketball is actually the easiest sport to rebuild because 1 singel player makes a huge difference.

yup. and its been spot on every year.

nah not really because every year isn't created equal. Just because you have a top pick in a weak draft doesn't mean that top pick is the same caliber of a strong draft.

it gets proven pretty much every day. and every season since the full rebuild started. continuously whining about John Collins doesn't discredit it

youre bitcching about not controlling the next 3 drafts now, not realizing that was Tilman's dumbass that gave up assets stupidly while the rockets were a legitimate contender. Kind of sounds familiar i guess since you want to give up pretty much the same assets to get a role player in John Collins. once again LOL

I'm not talking about the draft, I'm talking about how the impact of one superstar NBA player is greater than the impact of adding an individual player in every other major team sport (save for maybe QB in the NFL, that's probalby the only comparable), due to math, the fact they play lots of minutes, etc. 5 < 9 < 11

That's why "full rebuilds" dont' take very long in the NBA.

i guess superstars grow on trees apparently and every single year there's plenty to choose from. newflash they don't

and no full rebuilds take a long time. you clearly are one of the ones kidding yourself thinking this was going to turn around overnight. that why you're so frustrated and want to make all these moves just because. while others who understand this doesn't happen overnight know you better play your cards right if you want the turnaround to actually go well in the long run.

your solution is oh hey lets win 30 games and overpay a bunch of role players for years. that's how you rebuild! rebuild is complete! just win 30 games!!

Ok, oldtimer, name a single Houston Rockets "full rebuild" that lasted more than 5 years.

    A single one.

When was the last time in the last 20 years did the rockets start from scratch and go through a full rebuild? I'll wait

After Yao and TMAC were gone -> 3 seasons of treading water - >Harden era
After Hakeem etc retired -> 4 lotto seasons (though the last one was +.500) -> Yao Francis TMAC era
After Moses Malone traded -> 2 bottom of the league seasons -> Olajuwon era

Before that, I wasn't alive so I don't really feel like commenting. But, if you have 1970's Rockets wisdom, go ahead and regale us.

The median full rebuild has taken the Rockets 3 years.

The worst Rockets teams I remember was the early 80's squads led by Caldwell Jones. They sucked. 2 years later they were off and running.

proving exactly what we thought. you don't understand what a full rebuild is. i bet you think the rebuild started 3 years ago too

you think the years after yao and tmac is a full rebuild when they have the likes of Kevin Martin, brooks scola. all what 25, 26, 29 years old. LOL

once again when was the last time in the last 20 years did the rockets start from scratch and go through a full rebuild? I'll wait

Might want to look at the age of the roster of kids coming in at 19/20. and your average roster age barely being 21.

Here's a hint: There is no example for the Houston Rockets

I think it's fair to say that everyone assuming that all Tillman wanted was to burn this franchise down and make money was dead wrong. The dislike of him was always about people disliking his politics and personality. He and his sons clearly want to win.

Yes, I am one of those weird people who thinks "the rebuild started 3 years ago" when they got rid of James Harden - because, it did?

Anyway, if there's no example of what you deem to be a "full rebuild" how come you claim to "know what a full rebuild is" - if you've never seen one?

Since you've never seen one, and don't know what the **** you are talking about, I'm going to go ahead say that the post Yao and Hakeem eras were full rebuilds.

Frankly the Yao situation was worse. Unlike Harden, the Rockets got absolutely nothing when Yao's career ended. And yet, the full rebuild was over by year 5.

And, since you weren't even born, i can tell you the early 80's cupboard was impossibly bare and then 3 years later the Rockets were in the finals.

I guess you're just not old enough to know what a FULL REBUILD is.
