Regardless, I'm more likely to trust the local guy with sources at the college level who's proven accurate in the past than national media grasping at straws and conjecture.
Don’t expect him to a pick but Bijan can completely change the complexion of the offense like a Tomlinson and CMC. Pierce/Singletary is a good enough duo where we should probably look to fill other needs but Bijan is a different level of player IMO.
Interesting this morning John McClain was very honest about "inside information." He said he has ZERO now. No one in the Texans talks. He said when Casserly was GM he would literally call him up and tell him what to put in his mock drafts and tell him who other teams were drafting. Says Texans don't give out anything.
I also enjoy the "insiders" who pout about not having access. I admire that about Caserio and any other GM who treats insiders like Sgt. Dignam treats feds:
Have zero idea what will happen just as you have zero idea. Point is it is not unthinkable that the Texans go go from a 3 wins to 6 or 8 just like I said.
The case against Bijan is “You don’t take RBs in the first round!” “Not good value!” “Bigger needs!” Blah blah blah Let’s say they take Anderson/Wilson at 2 QBs are gone (except Hooker) On the clock at 12 Who else could be available… •Gonna take Hooker at 12? •Gonna take one of the tackles? (Paris Johnson, Broderick Jones, Peter Skoronski, Darnell Wright, Anton Harrison, Dawand Jones) •Gonna talk yourself into one of the WRs even though it appears there’s no number one? I wouldn’t (except maybe in the case you take Stroud at 2 and JSN is available) … (Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Jordan Addison, Quentin Johnston, Zay Flowers, Josh Downs, Jalin Hyatt, Cedric Tillman, Rashee Rice) •You could take a tight end (Michael Mayer, Dalton Kincaid, Darnell Washington) •A DT? (Jalen Carter? Not sure he’ll be there … Bryan Bresee? Calijah Kancey?) •Gonna double down at EDGE? (Nolan Smith, Lukas Van Ness, Myles Murphy) •Back to the CB well after taking Stingley? (Christian Gonzalez, Devon Witherspoon, Joey Porter Jr., Deonte Banks, Cam Smith, Emmanuel Forbes, Kelee Ringo) •A safety? (Brian Branch) Where you going at 12?
Stephen A right now using the draft to call the Texans organization racist again. Goes on to say he hates the organization and hates even talking about them. Some people say its paranoia when we bring up media bias but there it is...
I could humor you in acknowledging that last year several rookie coaches made the playoffs, but there is nuance involved. SOS, inherited team depth and other factors weigh heavily in making a statement that because Houston lost so many one score games they are primed to push for a mediocre or better season. This roster is swiss cheese compared to what guys like Daboll, McDaniel or O'Connell inherited with no competent signal caller and then further to expect a rookie QB and HC to push the outcomes is pretty wild.
I've been thinking a lot more about this as an option at 12 the last 48 hours, too. If the top four QBs are gone and you want to spend that second first rounder on a playmaker on the offensive side of the ball, I honestly think I'd rather have Bijan than one of the WRs at that spot. He's so versatile, and their offense can afford to have two guys at RB who get a ton of touches, especially if they're not drafting a QB in the first round. Maybe I'm biased as a UT guy, but I think he's going to be a top 5 RB in the league very quickly and stay there for a very long time. Given how McCaffrey elevated that 49ers' offense the second he was traded for last year, I have to think Ryans can see the value in an elite running back. If you could add a 21-year-old McCaffrey with pick No. 12 for a team looking to rebuild, wouldn't you do it?
