I really don't want to trade either of them tbh. They both have the potential to be better than Brown I believe. Doesn't mean they will be, but it's too early to give up on them. I think depending on who we draft, it may make one of them more expendable.
Keep both of them. If Brown want to come here he can do it next year as a FA without us having to move the two most promising players on our current roster.
Why would Wemby impact Sengun's minutes if we get him? Wemby is NOT a center. Just because he is tall does not make him acenter. He is more like Durant. He is a bean pole and does not have the frame to put enough meat on his bones to play center full time. I am not knocking Wemby by saying he is a bean pole just stating a fact.
He reportedly doesn't want to be a center, yeah, and yes, he's skinny right now. (But he's very young.) I've been thinking about this, and I might think about pushing him in that direction as an organization longer-term, though, if we land him. Get him with Hakeem and get him a skill-based post game. Nobody would be able to contest his shots. I'm a little worried about him playing on the perimeter and driving so much. I think those are some of the more dangerous plays in terms of injury risk.
I don't disagree that he's not a center - he isn't at least right now and maybe never will be. BUT I don't know how you play him with Sengun as a 4 because neither of them shoot well enough from outside for spacing. Sengun is .333 on very low volume and Wemby is .304 from International Three which is much shorter. Some have said that Jabari would move to the SF position but he shot .307 from distance last season. Playing the three of them together just seems like a train wreck when it comes to spacing the floor. Yep, Wemby's Durant-like .... except the great shooting part. Everyone watches these highlights and thinks he's much more polished than he really is. I'm not saying not to pick him, you most certainly do - just saying that he doesn't really appear to fit the current roster very well.
I wouldn't read too much into Wemby's current stat line. They're essentially letting him do whatever he wants like he's playing in an ASG. So many fadeaways and off-balance one-footed shots. He will take far fewer, high-quality jump shots in the NBA.
Wemby is definitely way overhyped for sure not to mention an injury risk given the history of players with such height. Any team with the top pick will take him but he is not the sure thing people make him out to be. As for shooting from distance I suspect all three (Wemby, Sengun, Jabari) will be pretty good at it within a few years.
Even though you'd think it'd be the other way around, I'd rather keep Sengun if we get Wembanyama, and I'd rather keep Green if we get Scoot. The reason being that Wemby is exactly what Sengun needs next to him up front to cover for his weaknesses, and Scoot would open things up for Green and is best suited with a P/R athletic C instead of Alp.
I'll never understand the Sengun hate from Rockets fans. He was easily one of the best players on the roster last year and despite having things he needs to work on and improve he has show incredible raw talents that are hard to come by. I can guarantee you that when teams call asking about players being available for trade they're asking about Sengun, Green and Jabari. I hope the Rockets front office is smarter than the Sengun haters on this board.
