We have people b****ing and moaning about Alex Bregman who don’t realize Bregman is a better hitter at .230 than dubon is at .330. I thought we were past the obsession with BA.

I can’t complain about what Dubon is doing, it’s absolutely ideal and he’s maximizing the opportunity. It just bothers me when people act like he’s playing at Altuve level.

Although I will admit, with the rule changes it does feel that BA and Dubon’s skill set are suddenly more valuable than they were in previous seasons.

Am I missing something. Who's claiming that "he's playing at Altuve level"?

On the as long as Dusty isn't fooled, Dusty has already moved Dubon to the leadoff spot while Chas, Altuve, and Brantley are hurt.

If Altuve is on first with no outs or 2 outs, I'll take the walk over a single.

Try to talk about him as little as possible. He's a black hole and probably completely overrated with all the rest that goes on but we are both really big fans and don't want to spend hours depressing ourselves.
I'm Gabe (the other guy is Andrew) and I'm pretty optimistic I think on the pod. Honestly, I'm optimistic on here even if people think I might not be b/c I b**** about the org doing stupid things when they do stupid things, or Dusty doing stupid things when he does stupid things. But that's in the context of "this team is ****ing awesome and we are so lucky to have them" and the only reason I'm so irritated is b/c this team is so ****ing awesome and I just want every last drop to get squeezed out and no regrets at the end of the day.

I don't think so. He's just getting babip lucky right now I think. He's hitting to the opposite field a lot but they wouldn't reverse shift him- so I think the rules changes are irreleveant to him and it's all just good old small sample size fortune. Unless there is something to the pitch clock that's helping him. I'm open to hearing that explanation but I'd sort of doubt it. Tucker and Alvarez and Brantley when he comes back sure. Even dead pull hitters that are RHB ought to be helped out some. But not a spray the ball guy unless I'm missing something.

I'm aware. I hope that when everyone is back everyone is back and Dubon goes back to his rightful place in the lineup. Or at least he gets the straight jacket put on him in the playoffs.

His BABIP is not altogether out of line with what could be expected. The guy doesn't strikeout at all which leads to a reasonable BABIP relative to his average.

No HR's and last I saw he was hitting 340 so, with like 2 strike outs that's a babip of like 345 or 350 when I checked. Is it not still there? I don't think you can sustain that without elite level speed, freakish hand eye coordination (where you can just flip the bat out and serve the ball wherever you want (ichiro, tony Gwynn) or you just hit the ball really really hard such that it's really really hard to catch. He doesn't do any of those things so I can't see how he's going to finish above 300 or so babip. If he has 300 babip his average will be 290 or so, his OBP will be 305 and his slugging will be 330. That's not a productive player. those 50 points of extra babip are giving him 100 points of OPS which is making him average instead of very poor. That's a thin reed to hold onto.

It's funny how Dubon is regarded as having a great season offensively while Diaz is regarded by (at least Dusty) as unplayable at any position besides catcher when they are practically tied in xwOBA for the season...and Dubon has not had the pleasure of PH against high leverage relievers to lower his stats.

I don't know many people thinking Dubon is having an amazing season offensively. Certainly not me. He's having a good season for Dubon standards though.

I don't think Dusty cares about a guy hitting the ball hard and getting bad luck. That said, I have to say I am amazed Diaz's xwOBA is that high. I just have not noticed the hard hit balls with good launch angles while it seems like Dubon is hitting the sweet spot once a game.

He's having a great season relative to someone who was barely hanging on by s thread in lots of people's eyes.
For a utility guy that can play center and short, the two most difficult positions on the field defensively, he's having a great season..
