Javiers heater is down this year. He has thrown harder when he has needed it, but I think its certainly something to keep an eye on.
Given Dusty publicly mentioned Valdez’s velocity was too high and hampered movement, I wouldn’t be surprised if Javier’s lower velocity is intentional. Also given the number of innings they will need him for. As you say, he can still dial it when he wants - he’s just cruising a bit.
