I support Ukraine. The general gist of his post is correct, though. People latch on to causes partly to feel better about themselves. A lot of it is virtue signaling, wanting to feel more virtuous than others, etc.

Which is why I keep asking the question what people who believe in the climate religion actually do to "save the climate"?

It's wild to me that you, as a Florida Coastal Guy, thinks climate change is no big deal and don't care much about doing things about it.

I can tell you 100% for sure it is happening in Texas. The Chihuahuan Desert is encroaching at an alarming pace.

So what do you personally do to "save the climate"?

The difference is biden is spending 30b on nuclear and he plans on transferring the coal plants into smaller moduler nuclear plants that they're investing. They're paying oil and gas companies to push geo thermal energy which is profitable.

American is working WITH capitalism to super charge the transmission by Subsidies.

Look at what the Europeans are saying. They're crying they can't match our subsidies and they're going lose their entire infrastructure to America.

All of their battery companies are coming to America

Europe is doomed and instead of being smart they're closing nuclear plants. They deserve to go broke

Why can't you be specific and tell us about it?

Do you still drive a fossil fuel car?

Correct, and this issue is a perfect illustration of how the left attempts to deceive. C02 is a colorless, odorless gas. Plants need it to grow. It comes out of our mouths when we speak. It represents around 0.05% of the chemical composition of air. It is NOT a pollutant. The left wants you to think that CO2 is like soot from a 1930's industrial factory -- and many erroneously believe this. They gobble up the lie. The left purposefully conflates CO2 with actual pollutants to try to manipulate people into a false understanding.

People should ask themselves, why would someone intentionally deceive like this? Why be dishonest? If people start thinking critically, they'll understand why climate change is science alright... political science.

The Clean Air Act defines an air pollutant as any "physical or chemical substance or matter which is emitted into or otherwise enters the ambient air", giving the EPA broad authority to regulate any substance that can harm human health or the environment. The EPA has used this to regulate various air pollutants beyond the six pollutants (carbon monoxide, lead, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, sulfur dioxide, particulate matter) explicitly listed in the Clean Air Act. This includes benzene, arsenic, mercury, methane, CO2, and so on. The Supreme Court affirmed the EPA's authority to regulate greenhouse gases as air pollutants under this Act in 2007.

How Soviet pollution destroyed the Aral Sea

In October 1990 Western scientists confirmed the virtual disappearance of the Aral Sea in Soviet Central Asia, formerly the fourth largest inland sea in the world.

The loss of sea water was the result of 60 years of intensive agriculture and pollution by the Soviet authorities. It is considered the biggest manmade loss of water in recorded history.

The surrounding areas were devastated. Local fisherman watched as the shore gradually receded and fish stocks ran out. Local children fell victim to respiratory illnesses.

Professor Denys Brunsden, of London's King's College, was one of the first Western scientists to visit the Aral Sea in 1990.

He spoke to Witness about the environmental devastation that he saw.

Witness is a World Service radio programme of the stories of our times told by the people who were there.

War Crimes, Crimes Against Humanity, and Ethnic Cleansing in Ethiopia
    PRESS STATEMENT

ANTONY J. BLINKEN, SECRETARY OF STATE

    MARCH 20, 2023

Ethiopia is now emerging from two years of a brutal conflict in the north, during which all parties committed atrocities. With the November 2, 2022 cessation of hostilities agreement (COHA) in place, the fighting has stopped, human rights abuses in northern Ethiopia are significantly down, Eritrean forces are leaving, and the Ethiopian government is taking the first step towards transitional justice. However, the suffering that was wrought upon civilians in northern Ethiopia must be acknowledged.

After careful review of the law and the facts, I have determined that members of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF), Eritrean Defense Forces (EDF), Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) forces, and Amhara forces committed war crimes during the conflict in northern Ethiopia.

Members of the ENDF, EDF, and Amhara forces also committed crimes against humanity, including murder, rape and other forms of sexual violence, and persecution.

Members of the Amhara forces also committed the crime against humanity of deportation or forcible transfer and committed ethnic cleansing in western Tigray.

Formally recognizing the atrocities committed by all parties is an essential step to achieving a sustainable peace. Those most responsible for atrocities, including those in positions of command, must be held accountable.

We welcome the commitment that the parties to the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement have made to acknowledge the atrocities committed and their devastating consequences. We urge all parties to follow through on their commitments to one another and implement a credible, inclusive, and comprehensive transitional justice process. We additionally call on the Government of Eritrea to ensure comprehensive justice and accountability for those responsible for abuses in Ethiopia.

These steps – acknowledgement, accountability, and reconciliation – are key to breaking the cycle of ethnic and political violence that has gripped Ethiopia and prevented it from reaching its unlimited potential for too long.

The United States will partner with Ethiopia as it implements a credible transitional justice process for the benefit of all victims and affected communities. We will stand with Ethiopia as it honestly faces the abuses in its past, provides accountability for the harms committed against its citizens, and moves toward a future of lasting peace.

In my personal life I live in a very small house that uses less energy to maintain to the center of my city. I work primarily from home and try to cut down on in person meetings. I drive a relatively fuel efficient car and my next car will likely be a hybrid or EV. Prior to my injury I biked quite a bit for errands and even sometimes for meetings. Now that I’ve been cleared to return to full activity will start biking again. I’ve also cut back on eating meat. Tht is more for personal health but also do so for the environment.

Professionally I incorporate and advocate for more energy efficient design. And as part of general practice will specify very energy efficient things like windows and doors. I’ve also lobbied for better energy standards in building codes.

I also for my personal investments have invested in stocks and funds that deal with green technology.

One note about all of these moves is that whey there are Climate Change reasons for these they also have many benefits besides what my personal impact is. They have meant helped me save a lot on heating and other energy expenses. Because my house and yard are small I spend less time and money on maintenance. I can mow the lawn using just a push mower powered by my own muscles and in winter shovel snow just using a shovel. Those are also better for my health. My family has a history of high cholesterol and eating less meat helps with that.

Buying stock in Tesla 10 years ago proved very profitable for me.

This goes to a point I’ve made before. Even if climate change science is all wrong the steps to address it provide many more benefits. Moving off of fossil fuels to renewable and distributed power sources will benefit general
Air and water quality. Will reduce our economic, diplomatic and military commitment to countries that aren’t always in our interests. Greater energy efficiency will reduce long term costs.

Great example. This had nothing to do with "climate change", and a lot with communism.

no one believes this will make the planet cooler, but it will definitely make things more expensive
The EPA's regulatory authority should be revisited by this new court, as it is a clearly unconstitutional divestment of legislative authority from the Congress to an unelected agency.

Whenever an executive starts enacting a bunch of new regulations on the populace that did not exist before, without Congressional authorization, we should all be worried. No matter what imprimatur of legitimacy some judges have given it. That is not the way republics should function.

But the point is, CO2 doesn't make the air "dirty", which was the purported point of the Clean Air Act. No one is suffering health consequences from CO2 emissions. It just might make the temperature a little warmer among a million other variables that affect climate. So what?

It already has. In 2022, the Conservative justices indirectly limited the EPA (and other agencies) from adopting rules that they deemed "transformational" to the economy by using the "major questions doctrine". While many consider this to be high-level nonsense, it remains in place. @Kim can correct me or enlighten us.

Regarding your point on CO2, it is outdated and reflects a denial of basic climate change and global warming science. I have no interest in wasting my time arguing about it.

Kinda. The inflation reduction act is what labeled co2 as a pollutant and gave epa more power. You may have forgotten but Supreme Court gutted epa in the west virgina decision. Dems cleaned it up
