DeMeco wants to “swarm” on defense and “explosive playmakers” on offense. Sounds like Will Anderson & Anthony Richardson to me!
Tune is NOT Keenum. Keenum put up record numbers at UH. I saw Tune **** the bed too many times. HELL NO.
Nolan Smith Trenton Simpson Drew Sanders Jack Campbell Lukas Van Ness Noah Sewell Henry To’o To’o All these guys have that swarm mentality
An option if they think Hooker is their guy is to trade with 2-33 for KC's 1-31 to get the extra Option year. Then they are free to use 1-2 and 1-12 for non QBs. The backup would be to go with McKee or wait for Tune if Hooker get's taken earlier than expected. I really think they see all the QBs as flawed and interchangeable.
I don't think they want Stroud, and any other QB at 2 is a reach. I think they would prefer to trade back, probably with Indy to 4, but if they can't they'll go defense instead. Trading with Indianapolis would pretty much guarantee them either Will Anderson or the Tech kid plus additional draft picks. My gut tells me that's the end game here. We'll see...
I'm all for giving Caserio criticism but there wasn't much he can do about that. The players showed up and wanted to win that game along with the coach. All of this doesn't really matter. Yeah, Bryce Young could turn out to be the franchise QB we all need, the second coming of Drew Brees...or he could be another Tua or a complete bust while we take Hendon Hooker in the 2nd round and he could turn out to be the best QB in the class. It's not like only the good QBs are taken in the top 3, plenty of precedent for guys later in the first or 2nd round to still turn out to be great QBs. So if they don't take CJ then it means they don't like him, they could be right or they could be wrong, time will tell. My point is it's more than fair for people to have a wait and see on Nick
This is a great point and I’ll double down with an interesting article. https://www.sharpfootballanalysis.c...b-accuracy-richardson-levis-stroud-young/amp/ The nuance of the above is west coast focuses on short and intermediate passing with high accuracy and low turnovers. Spoiler alert on the turnover side, but we all know how Hooker did on that front in a good way his past two years. What the above article does is help us see that on the other four. I think we know Levis and Richardson fall below the other two, but Richardson was abysmal. The interesting wrinkle is this is the area Stroud really struggled as well. Piecing things together, only Young and Hooker’s historical performances fit the profile. I think that is especially why, if BY goes to Carolina, we see the waffling on what the Texans do at 2. It almost solidified it for me that if we aren’t taking Young, we might wait for Hooker at 33 or slide up later 1st to snag him.
I had one fantasy draft where we got Anderson by moving down and Tyree by moving up. Combine that with Stingley and that's a pretty good start for a swarm beyond 2023.
There were reports that the Texans were telling Coaching prospects that they were taking a QB at 2 so that would seem like they were alligned. Personally, I don't feel like anything has changed other than the Texans putting feelers out. We don't know whats going on. Bravo Caseiro and Co for staying tight lipped because analyst are guessing right now. GM's are openly telling the media they have zero clue what the Texans are doing. That is interesting to me. Houston has the leverage in the draft right now. Teams can trade to 3, but they won't do it if they don't know what the Texans are doing. Maybe the Raiders or Titans want Stroud at 3, but can they make that trade right now? What if the Texans take him. Houston controls the draft and there won't be a trade with Arizona unless a team figures out who the Texans are going to take. There is probably a reason Stroud is getting the slander right now. It's to kill the Texans trade leverage. Is it Muluhgeta aiming for another team(probably not), other agents trying to boost their guy's stocks, other GM's trying to lessen trade value? Someone is going after him. It brings me back to what we do know. Demeco Ryans says they are taking a QB early. That is after he had taken the HC Job. The Houston Texans scouts have been looking at these prospects for over a year. They had an idea who they were going to take before the NCAA season ended. Thats how it works. Currently teams have called Houston about pick number 2 and if I were him, I would want a trade eerily similar to the one the Bears got. Why? Because Stroud in NFL circles is considered a much better prospect than Levis or AR. Maybe a team thinks AR is the next Cam Newton level player without the antics, I could see that. The way I see it. Three Scenarios- A) Texans trade pick 2 back to 4-6 area for a player and additional draft capital for a similar rated QB to what they could have had at 2 B) Texans trade pick 2 to 7,8,11 for a trade similar to the Bears C) Texans take their number 1 QB remaining. Hoping for option B or C personally.
The problem with this logic is that Hooker is one of the toughest quarterback prospects to evaluate, due to the gimmick offense he came from. He made the least complex reads of any QB in this class, and he's among the oldest, and coming off an injury. He does have great footwork, and a great resumé. The problem is, can he learn to make full field reads, what would that look like, and is he too old? He will have a steep learning curve, which is why I'm not sold on him. Seems like a good dude that will be easy to root for, I just think it's an uphill battle for him to become a good NFL QB by time he's 30. I don't think he's worth the 12th pick. Maybe mid-20s, at best. Hope I'm wrong.
I think she was the pre game post game person during the Rockets Championship seasons. She's older than you think.
Hell no there was a lot Caserio could and should have done if they wanted to lose that game. We’ll see how the draft shakes out but outside of how the most recent coaching search went, this franchise has been absolutely dysfunctional, this includes winning that last game of the season.
