Warner Bros. Pictures has released the official first trailer, green and red band versions, for the highly-anticipated “Evil Dead Rise”. Both promos are quite different in terms of footage content. The project what marks the fifth “Evil Dead” film following Sam Raimi’s original trilogy and Fede Alvarez’s remake. In the film, a road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped Los Angeles apartment. The sisters’ reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable. Nell Fisher, Alyssa Sutherland, Lily Sullivan, Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, Mia Challis, Jayden Daniels, Tai Wano, and Billy Reynolds-McCarthy co-star. Bruce Campbell won’t be reprising his Ash Williams role, which he last played across three seasons of Starz’s “Ash vs. Evil Dead”. The project was initially designed as an HBO Max original film but was pulled in August last year and reshaped for a theatrical release. The film famously had to hire an industrial kitchen to create the amount of fake blood they required for the film’s shoot “The Hole In The Ground” filmmaker Lee Cronin penned and directed this R-rated feature which is slated to open in cinemas on April 21st 2023. https://www.darkhorizons.com/first-trailer-evil-dead-rise/
horror used to be my favorite genre, but Hollywood puts out so much low effort bullsh*t that I can't bring myself to even want to go to the theaters for a horror film unless it's something big like that 2017 IT movie I'll probably give this a shot when it's available on some streaming platform or to rent for $3.99
I was sold after the first few seconds. This looks good. Sucks having to wait until almost May though.
Wife and I caught this last night, I have to say I left pretty impressed. Bloody and gory but darkly funny too with a handful of easter eggs for fans of the originals. The set ups are solid and they actually produce some tension and scares. I personally didn't like the 2013 remake because it was way too serious for my taste, this one isn't outright camp like the originals but it still funny in parts. Solid B+ for me.....
What evil deadites is recording subliminal messages on vinyl? Is there a printing press address in the movie? Lmao, what’s wrong with a regular old cassette tape recorder?
It's critically important for me to share with all of you that I don't see movies like this, because I highly value sleeping soundly.
I’m just joking and making fun of myself. I’m a sissy about scary movies. I’m good with zombie and apocalyptic stuff for some reason. And super chill with vampires. But ghosts and paranormal stuff like possession are beyond me. I blame my very Irish and superstitious family for that.
Ah yeah I got you. I was raised as a Catholic and watched exorcist by myself in a dark living room when I was like 12-13 for the first time. And I thought it was going to take a supernatural act for me to get off the couch and turn the light on when it was over. evil dead 2 is ridiculous and a comedy though.
Caught it last night. Was kinda disappointed beforehand when I read your comment about it being "funny in parts" as 2013's Evil Dead was one of my fav horrors of that decade. Not to say that I didn't enjoy the original though. I agree with you... B+. It was a happy medium between the camp original and serious remake. Spoiler Yikes at the cheese grater! I could see most of the theater cringe into the back of their seats when the deadite picked it up.
