In contrast to Houston - and an entirely unforeseeable turn of events -Pistons look to replace crusty old vet head coach Dwane Casey with first time NBA hire Per team and league sources, Milwaukee Bucks assistant coach Charles Lee, New Orleans Pelicans assistant coach Jarron Collins and Overtime Elite head coach Kevin Ollie are the current I swear to god NBA head coach is like a perfect harmonic oscillator - team fires a coach, they'll pick an orthogonal to some dimension replacement.
I like Detroit's young core. Could be very competitive with Houston and OKC in the next few years. It's like all 3 teams are growing up together.
Sure, we're all competing with each other, just that one team won nearly as many games as the other 2 combined It's like how LeBron and i are both middle aged working dads - maybe he's on top now, but I've got a few tricks up my sleeve
They should have hired Stephen Silas. I'm sure Rafael Stone would write a glowing recommendation letter for him.
Charles Lee is a top assistant. Rockets have made a bigger splash so far with Ime, Cassell, Vogel, Griffin and Nurse soon. Ollie is a college coach; he did ok there but not sure he's a good fit for the NBA. His time with OTE is very short. Pistons might be less serious of giving Ollie the actual job; but maybe ask him questions about the Thompsons twins; more as a scouting tool for their draft evaluations. Troy Weaver: "So Kevin how would you use Asuar and Amen?" Ollie: *gives opinion* Troy: "Dwayne, stop messing around, take notes"
They are still tanking and the fans are more patient in Detroit. Hiring a new cosch will allow them to do The Process and disguise it as incompetence.
No harm in that. Not every rookie coach is Silas or McHale. It's a box of chocolate like someone's momma would say.
Kinda wild for them to still be in tank mode? They only had the worst record because Cade missed most of the season. With Cade, Ivey, Duren, and a guaranteed top 5 pick they seem more set than we are to transition into "actually get some wins" mode.
Position wise the core of Detroit looks amazing since they got Cade, Ivey and Duren but I do wonder at the ceiling of their players. Cade played real bad before he got shut down and Ivey hasnt really wowed me considering he is one of the oldest rookies. Duren prob has the highest potential in their team since he's so young and already doing some work.
Nah, Cade is legit. Better prospect than anyone the Rockets currently have IMO. He's neck-and-neck with Scoot Henderson in this draft, those guys might honestly be the two best point guards in the NBA in 5 or 6 years.
Cade isnt good enough yet to be the difference between worst team and get some wins mode. Most rebuilds take 5 yrs to do, Rox is just gonna lose their picks thats why they are stopping the tank otherwise the smart play is still continue it since we havent found our franchise player yet.
Best prospect is scoring 41% fg and 30% from 3? I hope Scoot does better than that cmon man. If those are the benchmarks Jalen Green gonna be Kobe in 5 yrs.
Can't read too much into rookie numbers... he didn't even have time to get going this season before he got hurt. He was also already hurt at the start of the season & playing through the pain. I'm just telling you what every draft analyst/scout I've heard from believes about these guys. They're still really high on Cade.
His stats this season before he got hurt are higher than his stats last season lol. I know potential wise Cade is seen as having high potential I'm just telling you performance thus far aint "legit", just like with Mobley and Green its all potential right now.
