I didn't say I had a teenager. What I said was that your post made it seem that you either forgot from your own teenager days or didn't have much experience with the fact that teenagers go through a phase where they don't talk much with their parents and/or keep things secret.

A general rule of posting commandments wouldn't cover any of that nuance. These proposals are usually gimmicks or probes to score political points.

And if the government mandated deeper religious instructions of their choosing, why would you defer to the government teaching those religious values to children rather than you or your wife?

 

This requirement is usually easily met.

Clearly man, don't you get it? If you just tell people they shouldn't kill others when they are young then they'll grow up and never have that urge! So simple, why can't you see that?

The "moderately" religious Christians/Muslims/Jews/etc. aren't the ones pushing their religion into schools. But they do value compassion, respect, tolerance, and strong ethics being taught in schools. Those positive values do not need any religious framework.

 

The reason is they want to be sued and they want it to go to this far right USSC and they are hoping that the Justices just go "F It, Christian Nationalism LFG!!!!!!!" which...I mean it's not a 0% chance nowadays.

Still, I think this one is far too blatant and even this court would strike it down. I'm sure Alito, Thomas, and ACB are all on board for this though and I wouldn't put it past Gorsuch. I'm pretty confident Kav and Roberts wouldn't go for it.

Thank god that Breyer retired and Jackson was seated or else we could have been one more Desantis or Trump presidency from full on christian nationalism with nothing stopping it.

 

I guess it would now be legally sanctioned for teachers in Texas to discuss adultery, and by extension sex and the definition(s) of marriage, with students of all ages.

Excellent post, JC started the whole WOKE movement, it starts with Empathy and Compassion for your fellow man.
